Trika philosophy

Sir,

In the Sunday Magazine edition of this paper (Dec 16) a spiritual article titled 'Trika Philosophy' was published.

In this regard I would like to congratulate the author Abdul Gani Khan Sahib for his spiritual elevation and the reverence for the religion other than his own. According to the author, the Crux of Shaiva Philosophy is that man is no other than Shiva himself in conditioned existence and in a State of forgetfulness. The goal is the mental evolution from lower to higher consciousness from conditional to unconditioned existence. This manifested world which according to some other thought is considered to be false and full of illusion, is explained to be real and a thing of enjoyment according to Shaivite thought. This Universe in its manifestation is consciousness called Chit Shakti which is not different from Shiva or in other words this Universe is only Shiva and hence seal. Shiva is the ultimate reality and it is he who manifests as the Universe with all its variety and forms. He is the Universal consciousness. With his own free will and his 'Shakti' as the instrument, he creates this universe, without losing his transcendental nature.

In the present milieu, nation is passing through a path of conflagration where mostly anti-social elements forget to respect the sentiments of other community Now, when the whole nation is trying to march on the right track (specifically our State after experiencing so many sufferings and sacrifices so called martyrdom for more then one and a half decade the need of the hour is to go deep into all religions philosophies as the ways may be different but the destination is one and the same.

This write-up of the author shows his religions tolerance as well as democratic character which needs to be appreciated. Moreover, God has bestowed him with knowledgeabilty as well as inner depth of knowing the supreme power.

Obscene pictures

Sir,

City of temples is the other name of Jammu city. We have two capitals for our State. Jammu is the winter capital and Srinagar is the summer capital. In addition to being the winter capital of the State, Jammu is the key city through which millions of Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims pass every year. In addition to the lakhs of local population there is now a sizable number of students that comes from different state to study here.

With a cultural heritage of its own it is at least expected that a city like Jammu whose impression is imprinted on very large number of people many of them being from outside the State it is highly disturbing to see obscene pictures being displayed. These picture are in highly objectionable poses. These posters detract the attention of the people and especially children whose ethical foundation is shaken by these posters. The concerned authorities should launch a drive against the pasting and display of such posters. If we want to showcase Jammu such steps are important.

Abject surrender

Sir,

Team India surrendered to the Aussie's game plan. The loss at MCG was abject and will not go well with the team unless some miracle happens. We are seeing a battle of sorts in this series.

Interestingly the battle is not being waged on the field itself but off the field also. Players are utilising the resources of technology to its limits. Ponting, the Aussie Captain said tauntingly that if Indians could not be well on the MCG which is more of less like a subcontinental track then they are not expected to do well either at Sydeny or at Perth. He added that there were six game plans for the every Indian batsman. He has plans for the every Indian batsman. He has thrown a challenge to the much fabled Indian batting. Will they rise to the occasion and thrown up a challenge to the Australians is a million-dollar question. Keeping in view the tight on the off stump bowling of the Australian bowlers, I doubt there is any hope of resurrection.

There a perceptible difference in the body language of the Australian and Indian players. Look at the fielding of the opponents. How they jump at the ball. They did stop a number of sure boundaries. When you have a very agile and tight fielding it puts a pressure on the other side. I think the tight fielding also contributed to the downfall of the Indians. The game rested with the batsman. But they failed in the first and in the second innings too. Doubts were raised about the bowling depth of the Indian team. Whether they had a capability to get the Australian team out twice in a match. But they delivered well and did show that they can. We failed because of the over defensive nature of our openers. 'In order to take the attack to the opposition the best way is to attack. Over cautious and over defensive approach will do us no good. Attack is the best defence. Will Team India do something miraculous. Let us wait and see.

Yours etc...
