Traffic Jams
Sir,
Frequent traffic
jams at many places of Jammu city are making life
hell for the people. But traffic jams at various
chowks in the morning and evenings has become a
routine rather than exception. To substantiate
the problems Bikram Chowk, Dogra Chowk Kunjwani
chowk etc have emerged as problem areas in the
city. Through Kunjwani Chowk which serves as a
gateway to Jammu city but also is a gateway to
vehicles passing towards Nagrota, Katra and
Srinagar.
Commuters face
hardships in reaching their destination due to
traffic jams. There is a ray of hope in this
sector due to the widening of National Highway.
The work under taken by National Highway
Authority of India is slow in this project. Roads
which fall under the purview of State Government
also need to be upgraded and widened and
repaired. Traffic personnel manning at different
check posts and squares have a hell of time to
control traffic jams due to heavy rush especially
during morning and evening hours. It is a matter
of grave concern that there seems no possibility
of solution to traffic problems in near future.
Not a single day
passes without the news about a road accidents
occurring in the State. Drivers during traffic
jams go berserk as they try to take out vehicles
out of the traffic jams without strictly
following traffic rules. A few days ago a rashly
driven vehicle struck an electric pole at
Kunjwani and completely damaged it. Thank God
there was no casualty in the accident.
In this regard
urgently needed that road widening needs to be
undertaken on a war footing. Side by side traffic
department has to be strengthened so that they
are able to cope up with the high density of
traffic.

A bad trend
Sir,
It
is a blunder one the part of the MNS and her
chief to force the ''oust'' of Indians within
India. The question of North or South has no
value here. Maharashtra Navnirman sena actually
doing more harm to the State and the Nation than
the so called ''Navnirman''? There is an infinite
sadness and anger among the people of India and
especially that the Maharashtra, for earning a
bad name, thanks to the selfish and devisive
''Vote-Bank politics''. The world knows that
Maharashtra has remained a champion of
secularity, unity and brotherhood for the others.
The basic foundations of these principles were
laid down by none other han the greatest Medieval
hero- ''The Great Shiva Ji''. The bad name given
the leading superstar of the Bollywood and
beating and forceful ousting of the innocent
workers, labourers, students, business community
and even the pregnant women of the Northern
regions is a very shameful and heart rendering
event. What the concerned govt of the state is
doing there? And what the good people and others
political parties of the State are waiting for?
The
situation must be nipped in the bud otherwise the
venom of selfish political motives will engulf
the other parts of the country as well. The
concerned peopole must know that lakhs of
Maharashtrians live outside Maharashtra with full
dignity and respect. Moreover, will MNS chief
also pack off North and South Indians, who are
steadfastly serving the pious land of
''Marathas'' in army and paramilitary uniform,
away from their homes and beloved ones? Is not it
a sentimental hurting for the others secondly
also for the great Maharashtrians firstly? What
message are we sending to our neighbours, other
countries and above all, the huge ''Mixed''
diaspora living abroad? The reality is just
opposite. Every Indian, irrespective of the state
boundaries, signs the word '' Maratha'' of our
National Anthem with equal zeal, pride and
enthusiasm without any hatred or ill-will.
Indians love India and Indians love Maharashtra
and Maharashtrians!.
The
well leanred minds of the country, including the
great intellectuals from Maharashtra, know better
that Maharashtra is important strategic location
for our nation. If the ongoing situation
persists, Antisocial and Anti-Indian forces can
make a mockery of the moment and try hard to harm
the peaceful fabric of the Indian unity in
diversity by lethal weapon of regionalism. Its
the high time to end the awkward drama. The State
and Central Govt. must act firmly.
