Dangerous trend
Sir,
Lashkar-e-Toiba
(LeT) the dreaded militant organisation is
reported to be using girls are couriers for
carrying weapons and grenades. They are also been
initiated to throw grenades for being girls they
are not frisked by security forces. This has been
revealed through a news report published in this
paper (Feb 11).
An active female worker of LeT has made such a
sensational claim. According to Samreena who has
been arrested by the security forces there are
atleast a dozen female workers who have been
trained or motivated by LeT cadres to throw
grenades on the people whom LeT considers a
threat. It may be recalled here that LeT has been
on the fore front of terror attacks in Doda area.
Many militants of this dreaded outfit have been
killed which has put pressure on the outfit to
show its presence. This is the reason that LeT is
now planning to use females to plant grenades and
mobile bombs outside the houses of their targets
to kill them as, young girls are less doubted and
rarely frisked by security forces.
These women overground workers have usually
relationships with militant leaders who use them
to expand their nefarious activities by
transferring deadly consignments of bombs,
grenades and other things from one place to
another. With such activities of LeT in Doda it
is clear that the future of our young girls is at
stake and to dilute LeT gameplan security forces
have to put a relentless pressure on these
militant outfits so that the future of young
girls in Doda or elsewhere is not smeared with
infamy and doom.

Baba Amte
Sir,
In
the passing away of Baba Amte we have lost 'Abhay
Sadhak' of Gandhiji was had a strong link with
the father of the nation. We all felt the loss.
It is as if a real human being has passed away. A
pillar which was tickling our conscience has
collapsed.
Baba Amte was the voice of poor. He was the hope
of the destitute. His work among the lepess of
the country will always be remembered. He devoted
his entire life for the impoverished.
Murliadhar Devdas Amte was born on December 26th,
1914 in Hinganghat, Wardha district of
Maharashtra. He could have led a luxurious life
in his 400 acre farm. But he would not do that.
In his words, ''I, who never planted a single
seed in the estate, was expected to enjoy the
comfort of a beautiful farm house, while those
who had toiled there all their lives had only the
meanest hovels''. As an advocate he had a
lucrative practice but gave it up. His conscience
was fixed somewhere else. ''I was charging fifty
rupees for arguing for fifteen minutes while a
labourer was getting only three quarters of a
rupee for twelve hours of toil''. He described
the life of an advocate in words that were true.
''A client would admit that he had committee
rape, and I was expected to obtain an acquittal.
Worse still, when I succeeded, I was expected to
attend the celebration party''.
Atleast he was in his element when he founded the
house for leperes and named it Anand Van. Here,
he became messiah of people afflicted with
leprosy. He came in contact with Bapu and that
changed his life. In turn he changed the lives of
people suffering with dreaded leprosy.
Baba Amte will be remembered for all ages for his
great work among the destitute. He was a true man
of God. A real Baba for all for us.

Empowerment of women
Sir,
In
any civilized society, the place fair sex
occupied has been of hour, dignity and precedence
than the man. In all ages and stages of life,
having some evidence in the history of mankind,
particularly in India, the women enjoyed
commanding position to that of the man.
Accordingly, the name of the women always
precedes the name of her husband. The women has
been regarded as Laxmi (the goddess of wealth and
prosperity and the source of inspiration for
leading a good and healthy life. But alas, with
passage of time, the position a women used to
enjoy in the ancient society, appears to have
been lowered immensely in the present days. Sex
crimes, dowry deaths, divorces due to
maltreatment and harsh behaviour of the in-laws
are substantially increasing to the extent that
any civilized society can't remain unmoved, and
ashamed by witnessing such disgraceful scenes.
The women, who is the mother of the all mankind,
shouldn't be harassed in this way. It is all due
to government's slackness and lackadaisical
attitude in giving them due representation in the
political sphere, is another glaring example of
the man's highhandedness and unfair treatment
towards the fair sex. Evidently, it is either due
lack of strignent laws to set examples in the
society or failure on the part of administration
to execute such measures to check such offences.
Emancipation of womenhood from such ills and
crimes is of paramount necessity especially in
these days when entire world is coming closer and
closer due to globalisation and sociological
advancement.
Yours etc...
