Pay Commission
Sir,
In these times
when the wholesale price index of all the
essential commodities is rising sky high the only
succor that the employees can have is a
commensurate rise in their salary which would
help them to tide over the difficulties.
In this context
the recommendation of Pay Commission is awaited
even after the expiry of eighteen months, a
period announced for its completion by Prime
Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in mid 2006. All
employees of Central Govt as well as pensioners
are awaiting eagerly its report.
Pay Commission
recommendation are subsequently implemented by
the respective State. The employees in our State
too have raised their voices against the delay in
the recommendation of the sixth Pay Commission.
The State Govt. employees are demanding an
interim relief of one thousand rupees per month
in order to get a temporary relief till the
recommendation of the sixth Pay Commission are
adopted. The Government has to keep in mind the
interests of every citizen of the country. Hike
in pay and allowances of the employees means to
levy extra burden on every citizen of the country
to reimburse the Govt exchequer.
All employees
particularly from the rank and file are aspiring
a hike in their salary to such an extent so that
their power of purchase is raised to a level
where it meets the demands of the high prices. We
hope that the sixth Pay Commission will meet the
requirement of the employees and pensioners.

Hospitality forms our nature
Sir,
We, Indians, are
peace loving and wish every body well. The
essence of our teachings can be summarised in the
words of Rigveda which is hailed as the oldest
book of wisdom of mankind. 'Aano Bhadraha Kritvo
Yantu Vishwatah' (welcome noble thoughts from all
sides). Another line asks us to welcome guests as
if they were Gods (Devas). We have never failed
in upholding this.
Few days ago when
three Pakistan army sportsperson inadvertently
crossed over to this side of the border, they
were promptly apprehended by the BSF. After
questioning it was revealed that these three Pak
army people had nothing to do with terror or any
other thing related to it. They were given all
the facilities that a valued guest is given. And
on 11th Feb. When they were repatriated to
Pakistan they were given gifts and sweets (DE,
Feb. 12).
These three Pak
army men were all praise for the hospitality
showered upon them by our security forces. They
said that they did not feel that they were in
other country. These three Jawans will always
saviour the love and welcome showered upon them
even though unknowingly they had entered our
country from the wrong side. We have always
wished well for Pakistan. We have a shared
history and values. Just a couple of decades ago
we were one country. But sadly the Pak ruling
establishment has developed a self interest in
keeping the anti India stance alive.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Sir,
In the context of
Indian civilization Maharishi is a name rather an
epithet that is given to a person who has done
something spectecular in the field of
spirituality. 'Maha' means great and 'rishi'
means seer or knower. Thus the word Maharishi
applies to one who has experienced the infinite.
Last century has
produced greatmen in different fields of human
activity. But persons like Einestein, Freud,
Buckminister Fuller, Gandhi and Mahesh Yogi are
many notches above the rest. They comprise what
is called the crux of human achievement. This is
the reason that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is
considered as one the most important person of
the last century who influenced human thought in
a big way.
Like many other
towering geniuses, he too started his career on a
low key. Born in Madhya Pradesh ninety one years
ago he virtually took the essence of vedanta to
west in a way which was more permanent and
noticeable. He is the last in the trio of great
Indians who along with his great predecessors
Vivekananda and Yogananda took the wisdom of East
to the west. The demanour and youthfulness that
he always betrayed was enough to point out to the
greatness of this man. A colossus among men, he
always smiled and thought big. His Maharishi
schools are spreading the message of Vedas and
Indian wisdom in the nook and corner of the
country. He perfected a technique of
Transcendental Meditation popularity called TM.
The practiser of TM would literally levitate in
air. The world famous rock band Beatles found in
him their Guru. But they fel out and when long
time had elapsed Paul Macertny the lone surviving
Beatle expressed his sorrow over the
misunderstanding.
Maharishi Mahesh
Yogi's passing unfortunately did not hog the
limelight in the media because we in our country
do not wish or like to honour or remember our
greatmen. Here, we are mainly concerned with
which filmstar is having an affair or who has
married whom! We, Indian have virtually climbed
down our high pedestal of love for knowledge.
Here again, only, people like Maharishi Mahesh
Yogi can save this great nation of ours.
