Corrupt
elements will not be allowed to go scot
free: Vakil
Excelsior
Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 3 : Social
Welfare Minister and senior
Vice-President JKPCC Abdul Gani Vakil
today said that corrupt elements in the
State have pooled their resources and
joined hands in their last attempt to
drag the Chief Minister into the
controversy to divert public attention
from their misdeeds and blunders.
Addressing
a public meeting at New Plots here today,
Vakil said, "Nothing can deter Chief
Ministers determination to book the
culprits and drag them out of their
hideouts to face the law".
Having
seen the writing on the wall, the corrupt
elements were trying to discredit the war
against corruption waged by Chief
Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Mr. Vakil
said that entire population of Jammu and
Kashmir were behind him in this noble
cause. He assured the Chief Minister that
the rank and file of the congress and
honest opinion leaders across the State
would strengthen his drive against
misappropriation and corruption.
The
Minister said that recruitment of
Anganwari workers would be shortly taken
up in a transparent manner. He said
besides setting up 6500 Anganwari Centres
under phase-II 6000 more centres would be
sanctioned by the Centre under phase-III.
In all about 25,000 unemployed women
would be provided job-opportunities, he
added. He said that generous funding from
Government of India was only possible
because of the personal efforts of the
Chief Minister.
Mr.Vakil
said that Government was striving hard to
come to the expectations of the people
and that officials of his department have
been directed to work with utmost
dedication and honesty to give succour to
poor and needy.
Later, the
Minister distributed blankets among the
needy and downtrodden beneficiaries.
Dismiss
coalition, hold elections under
Governors
rule: Chaman
Excelsior
Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 3: Blaming the
coalition Government for its total
failure on all fronts, the former Union
Minister of State and senior BJP leader
Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has demanded its
dismissal and holding of elections under
Governors rule.
The way
the Mayor of Jammu Municipality who led a
procession towards Civil Secretariat was
thrashed by police and budget was passed
in three minutes shows that this
Government has lost total faith in
democracy, said Prof. Gupta while
addressing a press conference here,
today.
He said
the J&K Assembly has already crossed
the five years term which is the life of
assemblies in all other states of the
country. He also criticized the rulers of
the state who extended the term of State
assembly from five years to six years.
The term of Parliament was extended by
former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi
during the black days of emergency and
since then J&K followed it, he added.
Prof.
Gupta, while lashing out at Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) leadership which
is advocating for demilitarization, said
the number of troops deployed in
Waziristan, PoK and Chinese controlled
Tibet is much more than J&K State,
hence the reduction of the forces will be
detrimental to the security of the state.
Moreover, 5000 militants are still
undergoing training across the border and
there is every apprehension that they may
sneak in J&K to further their agenda,
he added.
Warning
against the reduction of troops, he said
three militants were killed in Poonch
yesterday who possessed maps and other
informative documents. This clearly
reveals the designs of the militants and
their harbourers, he added.
Opposing
the rehabilitation of militants and their
dependents, Prof. Gupta said if the
militants families are rehabilitated in
J&K why not in Assam and North East
states or why the same formula will not
be applied to the dependents of
naxalites.
Terming
the slogans of Government against
eradication of corruption totally hollow,
he said corruption will not end till the
action is not taken from top.
Alleging
that this Government has no morality, he
said the former Prime Minister, Lal
Bahadur Shastri had resigned as Railway
Minister on the train accident and in
J&K the ministers have not even
resigned on Kundal report.
The BJP
leader stressed on constitution of
Delimitation Commission before the
holding of next assembly elections in the
State.
