Feb 1: While Chief Minister Ghulam
Nabi Azad is contemplating to file a
defamation suit to claim damages worth Rs
1 crore each from two media
organizations, his Government is filing a
criminal contempt petition against the
major private television news channel
CNN-IBN and Jammu-based newspaper,
Kashmir Times, for "interference in
administration of justice." Chief
Minister has, meanwhile, said that an
inquiry into the alleged irregularities
in Forest Department in Doda district
would be assigned to Central Bureau of
