SRINAGAR, Aug 29: With strict enforcement of curfew on the 6th consecutive day, mass prayers were not held on second consecutive Friday today at Jamia Masjid and Hazratbal——two major religious seats of Kashmiri Muslims in the capital city of Srinagar. While the separatist Hurriyat Conference had on Friday last asked residents of Srinagar to perform their afternoon prayers at no mosque other than the open-air Eidgah, authorities today enforced the curfew strictly due to which Muslims could not gather at Jamia Masjid, Hazratbal and attendance was nominal at many other mosques across the Valley. Police have, meanwhile, arrested chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmed Shah, from the Srinagar outskirts of Rawalpora on the Old Airport Road.....more
