JKVM
asks PM to fulfill promises, ensure
real
return of exiled KPs
Excelsior

JAMMU, Apr 24: The Jammu and
Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) today
expressed the hope that Prime Minister,
Dr Manmohan Singh, during his two
days visit to Jammu from tomorrow
will ensure the return and retention of
Kashmiri Pandits in Valley as one group.
The real
return means that the Pandits are not
scattered in Valley to be lost for ever
and the community is not left at the
mercy of whimsical people and forces
there, said JKVM state chief, Ashok
Kangan, senior vice president, Dr R L
Bhat and general secretary, Hira Lal Bhat
while talking to reporters here, today.
The Manch
leaders said nothing was done for the
displaced community during last four
years of UPA rule except the false
promises. Blaming Government for playing
with the sentiments of the community,
they alleged that the community has been
deprived of its rights. The Government
policies are aimed at keeping the
displaced Pandits out of the Kashmir
valley for ever as no sincere efforts
have been made on its behalf to ensure
the rehabilitation in Valley, they added.
Accusing
the Government of not being sincere on
providing temporary rehabilitations to
the displaced Pandits, JKVM leaders said
the Government has considered only those
people for providing the accommodations
who were living in camps while 28,000
displaced families living in rented
accommodations have been ignored all
together.
Besides
the Prime Ministers promise to
provide succor to ill, infirm and aged as
well as on the protection of shrines and
temples in the Valley have also proved
hollow, they maintained.

Provide
justice to Doda migrants
Excelsior
Correspondent
JAMMU, Apr 24: Chairman, J&K
Human Rights Watch B L Kapoor has urged
the State Government to provide justice
to the Doda migrants who are languishing
in various camps in Jammu and other
places.
Talking to
media-persons at Panjtirthi where the
migrants are sitting on dharna for the
last 120 days, Mr Kapoor said today that
the poor migrants from remote areas of
district Doda are sitting on dharna
outside the office of Divisional
Commissioner, Jammu with the hope of some
relief but unfortunately the Government
seems to be ignorant of the issue.
Mr Kapoor
alleged that far better were the days of
Maharajas, when
"Faryadis" voice was
listened by the rulers. But here seems
that State is being ruled by heartless
rulers, who are least bothered about
their publics wounds and
starvation. He said migrants from Kashmir
are being given different relief and
ration scale while those from Doda and
other parts of Jammu region are facing
discrimination. It is very unfortunate
that despite Supreme Court directions,
the Government has remained unmoved.
Mr Kapoor
alleged that registration of the migrants
from Doda is being jeopardised in the
name of CID verifications. False plea is
being taken just to misguide and befool
the innocent migrants. He urged the Chief
Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is also
from district Doda to provide justice to
these people and keep one scale of relief
and rehabilitation in both the regions of
the State.
