The Union Public Service Commission
will hold the Combined Defence Services
Examination (II), 2008
on 14th September, 2008 for
admission to Indian Military Academy, Naval
Academy and Air Force
Academy for the Courses commencing
in July, 2009 and Officers Training
Academy, Chennai for the
Courses (Men and Women) commencing
in October, 2009.
Salient features of the examination
are published herein for general information of

regarding the Eligibility

2. CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY
(A) Age Limits, Sex and Marital
Status:
(i) For Indian Military Academy: Unmarried
male candidates born not earlier than 2nd
July,
1985 and not later than 1st
July, 1990 only are eligible.
(ii) For Naval Academy: Unmarried
male candidates born not earlier than 2nd
July, 1987 (2nd
July, 1985 in case of NCC
Naval Wing C Certificate holders) and
not later than 1st July,
1990 only are eligible.
(iii) For Air Force Academy : Unmarried
male candidates born not earlier than 2nd
July, 1986
and not later than 1st July, 1990
only are eligible.
(iv) For Officers Training
Academy - (SSC Course for Men) : Male
candidates (married or
unmarried) born not earlier than 2nd
July, 1984 and not later than 1st July,
1990 only are
eligible.
(v) For Officers Training
Academy - SSC (Women Non-Technical) Course : Unmarried
women, issueless widows who have not
remarried, and issueless divorcees (in possession
of
divorce documents) who have not
remarried are eligible. They should have been
born not
earlier than 2nd July, 1984 and
not later than 1st July, 1990.
(B) Educational Qualifications :
(i) For Indian Military Academy
and Officers Training Academy:- Degree
of a recognised
University or equivalent.
(ii) For Naval Academy:- B.Sc.
(with Physics & Mathematics) or Bachelor of
Engineering.
(iii) For Air Force Academy:- Degree
of a recognised University (with Physics and
Mathematics
at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of
Engineering.
Candidates who are studying in final
year Degree Course and have yet to pass final
year degree
examination or equivalent
examination can also apply for the Examination,
but they will be required
to submit proof of passing the
Degree Examination or equivalent by the specified
dates published
in Commissions Notice for the
Examination.
(C) Physical Standards :
Candidates must be physically fit
according to the physical standards for admission
to Combined
Defence Services Examination (II),
2008 as given in Appendix-V of Commissions
Notice for the
Examination published in Employment
News/Rozgar Samachar dated 19th April, 2008.
3. APPLICATION FORM:
Candidates must apply in the Common
Application Form devised by the Commission
for its
examinations, which can be purchased
from the designated Head Post Offices/Post
Offices
(specified in Appendix-III of the
Notice) throughout the country against cash
payment of Rs. 20/-
(Rupees twenty only). Each
such Form can be used only once and only for one
examination.

Whereas vide this office
notification No. 14-PSC of 2005 dated 20-09-2005
and 2-PSC of 2006 dated 17-01-2006, among various
other posts 82 posts (OM=43, RBA=16, SC=07,
ST=09, ALC=03, SLC=02 & PHC =02) and 27 posts
(OM=18, RBA=05, SC=02, ST=02) respectively in the
discipline of Lect (10+2) Chemistry were
advertised for selection process;
Whereas in terms of the Commission Rules, a
screening test was conducted on 10-09-2006, in
order to shortlist the candidate for interview;
Whereas the result of the Screening Test was
declared on 27-12-2006 and provisional cut off
marks for different categories was notified with
a further stipulation that such cut off marks in
respect of different categories are subject to
change during further verification/scrutiny of
record during the interviews or otherwise vide
this office notification dated 07-04-2008;
Whereas cut off marks for SLC category was
notifed as 70;
Whereas Miss Rajni Bala D/o Satya Paul Verma who
had applied under ST category by filling oval for
ST category on OMR Scannable Application Form,
when actually she belonged to SLC category but
had obtained only 47 marks in Screening Test,
thus could not be shortlisted under SLC category;
Whereas she has been shown as SC candidate in the
programme notice issued on 07-04-2008
inadvertently and accordingly a call letter for
appearing in the interview under SC caegory, has
gone to her;
Now, therefore, for above reasons the candidature
of Miss Rajni Bala D/o Satya Paul Verma for the
post of Lect 10+2 Chemistry under SC category, as
notifed vide notification dated 07-04-2008, is
hereby cancelled and which deemed to have been

Middle Pass in case no matriculate is available.

Ward in Urban areas where the Anganwadi Centre is
located.

categories there shall be no qualification ban
for applying for engagement as Anganwadi Worker
5. Only candidates residing in the concerned
Panch constituency Ward shall be eligible to
apply.

DIP/J-190 Dated 10-04-2008, Complete in all
respects along with attested copies of all the
relevant certificates should reach to the office

were shortlisted in excess, because they all were
in a tie of marks with the last shortlisted
candidate who all secured 70 marks;
Whereas two candidates namely S/Sh Vishal Sharma
S/O Ram Rattan RIO Rajouri bearing Roll No.
2000506 and Tahira Naqvi D/O Munir Hussain Shah
R/o Mendhar Poonch bearing Roll No. 2000480, who
had filled their Application Form in 2006 under
ALC category and both secured 80 marks in
Screening Test and thus got shortlisted in ALC
category when no post of ALC category was
available against the posts notified in the year
2006, thus they are required to be shortlisted
now in OM category for 2006 posts as the category
candidates can always compete against the OM
category posts and not visa versa;
Whereas in view of the above position, the two
candidates possessing 80 marks, get shortlisted
ahead of 08 candidates who have secured only 70
marks and therefore the cut off marks for OM
category gets changed to 71 cut off marks;
Whereas with the incorporation of the two

1. The last date of admission of students to 8th
class is upto 15-05-2008. No student shall be
