Ex-servicemen
resettlement
Sir,
From time to time it is
published that some welfare measures are
being taken for the retired defence
personnel but it is merely preposterous
consolation to be ex-servicemen/widow. In
fact nothing fruitful has been done so
far for the rehabilitation of the
ex-servicemen. It is firm conviction that
no welfare measures are presumed in the
near future for the re-settlement of
ex-servicemen/widow as well as for their
dependent educated wards. History of
India, after the partition, is itself
witness for the achievement of the Army
at the border as well as during the civil
chaos and turbulence as also in the
militancy affected areas in the country
as a whole and particularly for playing
prominent role in the J&K State which
has become a source of great perturbation
and challenge for the whole generation.
There is no other opinion that defence
forces including the technical experts
and secretariat staff have shown their
excellence in their respective job but it
is very heartening and pity that their
potentials and not utilized in the Govt.
and non-Govt. organization after
retirement and this has resulted in
demoralization of their potentials and
energy and loss of confidence in their
mind. On the other hand there is no
scheme being launched or expected for
their rehabilitation and re-settlement or
for the adjustment of their wards who are
undergoing professional qualifications
i.e. in I.T, Management courses etc. or
have attained their graduation or
post-graduation in any specialization.
It is a matter of great
appreciation on the part of Director
General Resettlement for giving assurance
for the rehabilitation and re-settlement
of the ex-servicemen/widow and their
children by launching schemes to absorb
them in various organizations, private as
well as Govt. The schemes so launched
will definitely go a long way and will
prove as an incentive and confidential
building measures in the years to come.
It is for the kind general
information of all concerned that only an
Indian soldier has proved and can be
proved to be honest, dedicated, faithful,
duty bound, determinant and challenge to
any organization and destiny of India in
any eventuality and that India (our
mother land) which is being predicted as
Superpower in the world in the ears to
come.

New jets
for IAF
Sir,
In near future Indian Air
Force is adding some one hundred twenty
five jets or more to its inventory. The
main reason for this huge purchase which
will cost the country ten billion dollars
will be one of the biggest purchases in
this part of the world including south
East Asia, is that we have not been able
to develop a state of art jet on our own.
In early sixties India has succeeded in
designing its own transsonic aircraft
named HF-24 (Meerut) but despite its
brilliant design it failed because of
very low engine thrust. The inability of
our engineers and designers to develop a
powerful engine whether for Arjun Tank,
or LCA has put us behind schedule in
procuring these weapon systems which our
country needs badly. Hence we have to
shop for these high technology weapon
platforms outside. Had even a fraction of
the proposed cost been injected in DRDO
at the right time perhaps we would have
been better off now. The cause of concern
is that though we need to induct the high
technology aircraft for the airforce soon
it also means that our indigenous
potential is relegated to background.

etc...
