MLAs and MLCs
Mufti wants 16th
century sovereignty
for J&K, names it self-rule
From Ahmed Ali
Fayyaz
SRINAGAR, Oct 28:
Peoples Democratic
Party's founder-president and
former Chief Minister Mufti
Mohammad Sayeed today said that
New Delhi and Islamabad had
realised that nothing but an
"out of box solution"
could solve the vexed Kashmir
problem. He said that the people
of the state had been
"caught between the two
guns" (of India and
Pakistan) and it was high time
that the "basis of permanent
solution" was created by
granting "self-rule".
He emphasised that J&K Police
must replace security forces, the
state should have its independent
civil and Police services,
Central Government's power of
dismissing elected governments in
J&K should be withdrawn and
the Governor must essentially be
a state subject to be elected by
the two Houses of the State
legislature........more
