Gen Sekhon takes over as GOC 15 Corps
Srinagar, Lieutenant General
Amarjeet Singh Sekhon today took over as
General Officer Commanding (GOC) of
Armys 15 Corps, a defence spokesman
said. He replaces Lt Gen S S Dhillon, who
has been shifted to Delhi as Master
General of Ordnance, the spokesman said.
Lt Gen Sekhon was commissioned in the
Sikh Light Infantry regiment in 1970 and
has an illustrious career spanning 36

injured, police station attacked in north

Baramulla, :Five persons were
injured in a grenade blast while
militants made an abortive bid to blow up
police station in north Kashmir
overnight, official sources said today.
Militants today hurled a hand grenade
towards security forces at Sopore in this
north Kashmir district. However, it
missed the intended target and exploded
on the roadside causing injuries to five
civilians. The injured were admitted to

3 jawans killed,

were injured when a fresh recruit
opened firing with his official
Insas weapon inside an Army camp
at Narian on Rajouri-Nowshera
road in early hours of yesterday
morning. The jawan later fired
upon himself in an attempt to
commit suicide and was
hospitalised in seriously injured
