NHPC working to harness 6040 mw power in J&K

JAMMU, Oct 2: National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) is working to harness nearly 6040 MW power generation through fourteen power projects taken in hand in J&K while the Corporation is all set to take up four new projects of 1700 MW capacity over river Chenab in district Doda. The Corporation with an authorised share capital of Rs 15,000 cr and an investment base of over Rs 22,200 cr is among the top 10 companies in the country in terms of investment. Executive Director of the NHPC Northern Region-I, S C Gupta told Excelsior that the Corporation is currently working to harness nearly 6040 MW power potential through 14 medium and large hydel power projects in the State. Canine sniffs out contraband

An official spokesman said that Excise Department’s team headed by Excise and Taxation Officers (ETOs) Manzoor Aslam Chowdhary and Sohan Lal Sharma stopped a vehicle bearing registration number PB06B-7587 loaded with fresh apple at Lakhanpur and pressed sniffer dog into service........more
