Gandhian selfless service synonymous to humanism: Azad

Excelsior Correspondent

Jammu, Nov 21: Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that Gandhianism educates and propagates mutual brotherhood, co-existence, non-violence and love, the guiding principles more relevant in present day global scenario to calm the conflicting and volatile situations.

Describing Gandhian philosophy of living a disciplined, honest and simple life and extending every help to poor as synonymous to basic values of humanism, Mr. Azad asked the Gandhian workers to be true torch bearers of Gandhianism and best example of friends of people.

Chief Minister was flagging-off first batch of 300 Gandhian workers from here to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh to participate in 3-day all India Gandhian workers sammelan being held there from November 25 to 27. Over 1000 Gandhian workers from the state are taking part in the sammelan who will leave to Tirupati in four batches.

UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to inaugurate the sammelan in which over 25000 Gandhian workers from all over the country as well as from SAARC countries are participating.

Mr. Azad said that India has been abode of great mahatmas, reformers, religious leaders, scholars, intellectuals and vidvans who have nurtured the mankind and shaped in best moulds embodying characteristics of secular temperament, amity, coexistence, tolerance and respect to each others faiths. He said Mahatma Gandhi was the greatest social reformer, people’s friend and apostle of peace of our times who received global acclaim and respect for his selfless service to the mankind and introduction of most effective tool of non-violence to agitate against suppression and high-handedness. He said the country obtained freedom under the banner of Gandhian philosophy of non-violence and carried forward same principles to establish a progressive society free from hatred and considerations on the grounds of creed, caste, colour and region or religion.

Throwing yet another open offer to those who still have disbelief that gun can solve issues, to shun violence, come across the table and resolve issues amicably through the process of dialogue. He said, "this is the only medium to address and resolve all issues". Aao Masayal Kaa Hal Baatcheet Say Nekalain. Bundook Na Kahbi Koi Masla Hal Kar Saka Aur Na Ab Karega, said Mr. Azad.

Chief Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi was his ideal since the student life and he used to inculcate all teachings of Gandhiji in him, adding that it is for this reason he has never touched cigarette, liquor or any other such substance and developed the tendency of speaking truth and serving the people with sincerity of mind and heart.

Mr. Azad said Mahatma Gandhi worked and preached for creation of a social order free from all evils and always laid stress for speaking truth and standing with truthfulness. But unfortunately falsehood and lies have become order of the day in every field of life including the political set up, he said. He said best way to pay homage to father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi is that we shed the clad of falsehood and be true friends of people and live a disciplined, honest and simple life.

Chief Minister said many countries in the world have adopted Gandhian philosophy and attained new highs but his own people are not moulding themselves in real Gandhian character which symbolizes all best human values.

President Akhil Bharat Rachnatmak Samaj J&K State S. P. Verma said on the occasion that the participants of the sammelan from the state will also take part in South Asian countries meet being held at Tirupati on November 26 to promote understanding, peace and harmony in the region.

RSS leader for elimination of casteism from Hindu society

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Nov 21: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Seh Sar Karivah, Bhaiyan Ji Joshi has stressed for elimination of casteism from the Hindu society.

Mr Joshi, who was the chief guest in Samajik Sadhbhav meet organized by Shri Guru Ji Janam Shatabdhi Samaroh Samiti here today, said that the need of the time is that entire Hindu Samaj should unitedly face the challenges.

Terming the casteism a big social evil, he said there should be no discrimination between one individual and another on the basis of the caste. "All efforts are to be made to eliminate the casteism as it has no place in the society", he asserted.

Maintaining that the solution of all problems lies when Hindu Samaj is united, the RSS leader said Hindus have brought changes in society according to changing circumstances from time to time in past and they should continue to adopt the same strategy at present.

Urging the politicians to work in the national interests, he warned them against creating division in Society on the basis of religion, region and language for their vested interests.

He claimed RSS has been working for unity of Society and nation since 1925 and its cadres will take this message to every nook and corner of the country.

Admitting that the prevalent social evils in Hindu society are because of illiteracy, backwardness and poverty, he said it is the duty of entire society to find a solution to these problems.

He said these are the reasons that other religions succeeded in eroding Hindu Samaj and enforcing conversions in it. "But we have to be vigilant and thwart the designs of all such forces inimical to our cause", he added.
