Medical
seats
Sir,
I wish to draw the attention
regarding quota of seats reserved in
State medical colleges of Jammu and
Kashmir State and approved by Medical
Council of India (MCI) for Non permanent
Resident Employees of State/Central
Government Institutions and non-permanent
resident defence Personal served in
J&K continuously fifteen years and
three years respectively. These seats
were accepted by J&K State Government
(Govt Order No 497-GAD of 2004 dt
8.4.2004) and approved by MCI after
great persuation and efforts by Non
Permanent Resident Employees' some time
during early eighties.
Till 2005 ward of
Non-permanent resident employees of State
and Central Govt who has served for more
than fifteen years continuously in
J&K state and Non-Permanent Resident
Defence Personal's served in the State of
J&K for continuous three years and
Defence personels serving in Siachen
glacier were given admissions on these
above referred seats through CET
conducted by Board of Professional
Entrance Examinations J&K.
To our utmost surprise, the
quota of these seats that was included by
State Government and approved by MCI was
suddenly abolished by State Government
and no admission was given on these seats
during 2006. The quota of these seats was
above and over 200 seats approved in
medical colleges of this State.
Further, quota was abolished
without public information and
disclosure. This was only known when
process for admission to UG Courses in
J&K through CET-2006 was started by
Board of Professional Entrance
Examinations Jammu & Kashmir.
This came to the notice of
Central Government Employees after
purchase of admission form worth Rs 700/-
Consequent to this withdrawal the ward of
above beneficiary employees were deprived
to sit in the entrance exam for seeking
admissions against these seats and had to
forfeit Rs 700/-.
On enquiring from the
authorities of Board of Professional
Examinations J&K State it was
mentioned that quota has been abolished
on directions received from Medical
Council of India, Govt of India.
There are large number of
Non-resident permanent employees in State
and Central Govt institutions who are
serving in J&K since long time in
this State and children of these
employees completed their education from
nursery to 10+2 in J&K has suffered
with this arbitrary and injustice
decision.
Recently CM of the State was
advocating one seat in each Medical
College of our country for J&K
citizens where in his own State his Govt
is treating non-permanent resident
Serving this State in arbitrary manner.
I sincerely look forward
that the concerned authorities and the
Chief Minister will restore the quota of
these seats and thereby help the wards of
non-permanent residents serving the that
State at the risk of their life, limb
etc.

Gandhigiri
Sir,
This is with reference to
the article Gandhigiri in
2006 (DE November 7, ), wherein the
writer maintains that the film MBLR
should be treated as a good
entertainer. No doubt, the film
Munnabhai Lage Rao is an
entertainer. Every film maker wants to
make a film which appeals to the masses,
and at the same time is a commercial hit.
The intelligence of a film-maker is
judged by the way he makes films- and
MBLR is an out and out entertainer- and
why shouldn't it be ? The genius of the
director lies in the way, he has managed
to present Gandhi's message by weaving it
into the entertainer that when a viewer
comes out of the theatre he remembers
Gandhi more than Munnabhai or
Circuit.
The very fact that Gandhi
has suddenly become popular among the
youth, who were die-hard opponents of
Gandhi. Mr Arya should remember this film
is not about India's national movement,
but about the philosophy of Gandhi, and
how even in present day society, Gandhi's
message of Satyagraha and non-violence
can work wonders, if understood properly.
It seems Mr Arya has not been able to
accept the fact that the film shows
Gandhi as a great human being, and
therefore he has raised irrelevant and
unnecessary points about comparison with
Bhagat Singh and other revolutionaries.
May I ask Mr Arya as to in what way
Hirani has tried to show that Gandhi was
the only person to give India freedom. I
would ask him to see the movie again, and
see for himself that. Nowhere in the film
has Hirani tried to belittle other
freedom fighters. In fact, the film is
only trying to drill into us the message
that non-violence can solve problems and
Gandhi's relevance in the present gloomy,
scenario cannot be glossed over !
Yours
