JAMMU, Nov 14: On the 117th birth
anniversary of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru,
Childrens Day was celebrated today
by various educational institutions,
Government as well as private, with much
fanfare and enthusiasm.
New
Modern Higher Secondary School R N Bazar
organised an impressive function in
connection with Childrens Day.
Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma was
chief guest on the occasion while MLA
Yogesh Sawhney and JMC Commissioner Vinod
Sharma were the guests of honour.
Colourful cultural items were presented
on the occasion.
DAV
High School, Exchange Road Jammu,
celebrated the day by organising an
impressive function in the school
presmises wherein the Principal hoisted
National flag while students presented
cultural items.
A sports
competition was organised at Sainik
Public School on the occasion of
Childrens Day. Speakers in the
function also threw light on the life of
Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru and paid him rich
tributes.
Little
Angels Public School Vijaypur
celebrated the day by organising a
cultural programme wherein flag hoisting
and march past were also held.
At the
Blue Bird Public School, Janipur,
rich tributes were paid to Pt Jawahar Lal
Nehru while students presented colourful
items and patriotic songs.

colourful fancy dress competition and
prize distribution function were
organised at the Co-operative Public
School, Janipur Colony. Mayor JMC,
Manmohan Choudhary was chief guest on the
occasion while Balkar Singh, Secretary of
Jammu Rural Housing Building Society, was
the guest of honour.
Management
and students of the JK Montessorie
School visited SOS Village and
distributed stationery items among the
poor children.

Kanya Vidyalaya, Purani Mandi, Jammu,

leadership qualities of the latter.

colourful function was organised at Government
Degree College Rajouri wherein Shabir
Ahmed Khan, chairman of Pahari Advisory
Board, was the chief guest. Cultural
items were presented by the students
while Principal M R Khan highlighted
relevance of the day.
Childrens
Day was celebrated by the employees of ECDS
Project Bishnah by organising an
impressive function at Dabbar wherein
CDPO Kamla Devi and MLA Ashwani Sharma
were the main speakers. Statistical
Assistant Veenu Gupta compeered the
programme.

premises. Speeches, patriotic songs and

India, Jammu, celebrated
Childrens Day in coordination with Public
Higher Secondary School, Janipur. A
painting and essay writing compettion on
the importance of nutrition were
organised on the occasion.

Verma, Meenakshi Bali and Diksha Sharma
were adjudged first, second and third,
respectively in essay competition while
Sakshi Dogra, Neha Katoch, Vivek Gupta
and Kanav Rishi secured first four
positions, respectively in on the spot
painting competition. Dr Kailash Kohli,
Deputy Director (Central
Adminmistration), Health Services, was
the chief guest.
Army
school, Jammu Cantt celebrated 117th
birth anniversary of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru
by organising Sports Day in the school
premises. The competitions comprised of
track events and field events which
included lemon and spoon race, 3-legged
race, banana race, shot put and long
jump.
Tagore
House lifted the overall trohpy while the
second place was secured by Subash House.
Brig M M Choudhary, Chairman of the
school, was chief guest on the occasion.
Principal Anu Jandial threw light on the
life history of Pt Nehru.

Childrens
Day was celebrated at Coventry

anniversary of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru at

tributes to first Prime Minsiter of the
country and recalled his services to the
nation. Those who spoke, included, Anil
Sharma, Tariq Manhas, Narinder Singh, J K

Degree College Thanamandi organized a
function to celebrate Childrens
Day. The function started with recitation
of Holy Quran by Waheed Qadri followed by
a Naat Sharief by Gowhar Sharief Dar. On
this occasion a symposium on the topic
"Life History and Contribution of
Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru was
organized. The function was presided over
by Prof Parveen Sabharwal, Principal of
the College.

Ministry of Women and Child Development
Jammu organised a function in the
collaboration with Activity Public
Higher Secondary School, Janipur Colony
Jammu. A painting and anessay writing
competitions on the topic
"Importance of Nutrition were
organised. Twenty five students
participated in painting competition and
forty students in essay writing
competition.

participated in the event which was
organised by A K Hanjura, Senior
Superintendent of Post Offices, Jammu
division.

Public School, Faridabad Doda celebrated
Childrens Day with full fervour and
gaity. Children displayed their talent by
presenting different colourful cultural

of the State High Court comprising Chief
Justice, Justice B.A. Khan and Justice
Bashir Ahmad Kirmani in a case titled
S.R. Institute v/s state of J&K has
passed several directions to the
concerned authorities to enforce ban,
sale and use of polythene. The court has
asked the concerned authorities to submit
their plan of action and mechanism
adopted by them for implementing the ban
while directing the government to
expedite process of legislation on the
subject and also requiring the Municipal
Authorities to take steps under the
powers enjoyed by them.
The
Medical Superintendents of Government
hospitals and management of all private
hospitals were also directed to submit
their action plans on similar lines.
The
Directors of Health Services Kashmir and
Jammu, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and
Vice Chairman LAWDA have been directed to
seek compliance report from management of
private hospitals and direct them to
appear before the court on the next day
of hearing alongwith status report.
Perusal to
the status reports submitted by various
authorities, the court observed that no
concrete and specific action plan has
either been adopted or indicated by them
which could constitute permanent
mechanism for enforcing the court order
imposing the ban and ultimately of the
legislation which was on anvil.
The
Government has been directed to get the
proposed legislation, imposing ban on use
and sale of polythene, published inviting
suggestions from experts. In case
suggestions or recommendations are
submitted, the same should be considered
for finalizing it before the legislature
for enactment. All concerned authorities
are directed to submit fresh action taken
report within one week.

Jammu celebrates annual day function

JAMMU, Nov 14: Delhi Public School
today organised annual day function in
which Ashok Chandra, Chairman DPS
Society, New Delhi was chief guest. Ritu
Singh, pro vice-chairperson, DPS presided
over the function while Ajatshatru Singh,
president RCT was guest of honour.
The
function began with felicitation of chief
guest and other dignitaries followed by
lighting of lamp by the guests.
Principal
of the school, D Joseph presented welcome
address as well as annual report. She
emphasised on character building, self
determination, inculcation of values.
In the
cultural function students presented
Rajasthani, Punjabi, Ladakhi and Kashmir
songs and dances. Kathak and classical
music recital also enthralled the
audience besides presentation of Chanda
Chamke by tiny tots. The Dogri folk song
added traditional touch to the programme.
Ajatshatru
Singh, in his address remembered Jawahar
Lal Nehru as the day was also celebrated
as Children's Day across the nation.
The
programme concluded with class VI
students dance performance on national
song Vande Mataram.
