Children's
Day
Sir,
Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru who was
known as the architecture of modern India
is remembered for distinguishable,
tremendous and unmatchable service
rendered for the nation. He became
General Secretary of Indian National
Congress and in 1929 its president, again
became president of Congress in 1936,
1946 and in every session from 1951 to
1954. His credibility is recognized in
terms of his great statesmanship, his
autobiography, Panchsheel, Discovery of
India, his vision and aspiration for
peace and equality of human being,
renowned international relations, NAM and
vice versa. He said in 1949 in his
address to Canadian Parliament: There is
no security or real peace if vast number
of people in parts of the world live in
poverty and misery.
He was great lover of
children. When we recollect the memory of
Pt Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth
anniversary on 14 November, the Children
Day falling on the same day, it is very
delighting that coincidence of both these
events gives us a spirit and source of
aspiration and hope in the context of
present day. Gone are the days when
programmes used to be solemnized on the
birth anniversary of Bapu Gandhi and
Chacha Nehru in the educational
institutions. Both these leaders have
distinguishable and unmatchable services
at their credit for the liberation of our
mother India and in bringing the nation
above the poverty, political degradation,
cultural subordination and had been
source of enlightenment for our new
generation. It is unfortunate that the
memories of these great leaders, who were
source of enlightenment and have
fragmentary approach to the contemporary
India, are being obliterated. It is
imperative that deeds of our great
leaders and social reformers like Mahatma
Gandhi, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash
Chander Bose, Swami Vivekananda, Swami
Dayanand Sarswati who had the passion of
peace and harmony, equality of human
being, should be contemplated in the mind
of children to give innovation of our
egalitarian society- a society which
could be a missionary one in the world
over.

Release white
paper
Sir,
The news about the
encroachment of more than 1.3 million
kanals of land by land mafia has once
again revealed the rot that has set in
our society. One is surprised when the
influential so called high and mighty
play with law and usurp what ever they
want. The nexus between political
activists, revenue officials media baron
police has resulted into a well
entrenched land mafia. The result is
before us. The prime land in the vicinity
of the winter capital among other places
has been illegally encroached upon by
people whose scruples have come down to
such a pass. It is however noteworthy
that the Chief Minister has assured that
the blackdeeds of these elements will be
revealed. The people of the State demand
a white paper on the land scandal so that
the public knows about the persons
involved in the encroachment and well as
their method of operation. The unholy
nexus between political workers,
mediamen, police and revenue officials
must be exposed. A white paper is thus a
need of the hour.

Domestic
Violence Act
Sir,
With the introduction of
''Domestic Violence Act 2005'' the law
makers have addressed one of the long
burning issue of marital discord.
The Act provoked a mixed
reaction from various sections of the
society but it is also to be seen from a
different perspective altogether.
No doubt the sufferings of
female lot at the hands of males since
times immemorial can now be tackled
effectively. The point remains that till
such time ignorance of law and illiteracy
are the hall marks of the society the
very Act shall remain perverse. Also on
the other hand invoking of this Act on
trifle discords between spouses in heat
of moment can have adverse fall out.
In the back drop of this Act
it becomes all the more important that a
female child is given education and
should be career oriented which lessens
her dependence on her spouse then and
then only will the female lot can take a
stand against domestic violence failing
otherwise the Act remains a mere piece of
paper.
Yours etc...
