J&K at 58/5, bundled out for 41 in 1st Innings

JAMMU, Nov 11: Host J&K were 58/5 in 27.2 overs in their second innings on the inaugural day of the 3 day long U/15 Poly Umrigar Cricket Trophy which commenced at GGM Science College Hostel Ground here today. Earlier, J&K won the toss and decided to bat first. They got off to a disastrous start as they lost their opener Sidanth Sanmotra who trapped LBW of the bowling of Ankush Aditya without opening his account. None of the J&K batsman was able to reach the double figures. Skipper Sandeep Singh, Owais Shah and Basit Mohd. scored five runs each. For H.P., Nikhil Gangta was the most successful bowler who bowled an excellent spell to grab four wickets at crucial junctures. Sahib Malhotra and Ankush Aditya also chipped in with three wickets each. J&K was bundled out for paltry 41 runs in 25.1 overs.

In reply, H.P. batsmen too were not looked not so comfortble as they too gifted thier wickets by playing reckless shots. They made 86 runs in 30.2 overs. Vinayak Lall, Karan Thakur and Ashish Sharma were the top scorers with 23, 16 and 27 runs respectively.For J&K, Dilawar Singh and Owais Shah took five and four wickets respectively. The play was stopped before the scheduled time due to bad light. Sarvadaman and Sandeep Singh were unbeated on five and three wickets respectively.

GGM Science College registers one wicket
win over Govt Medical College

JAMMU Nov 11: GGM Science College sealed a thrilling one wicket win over Govt. Medical College by one wicket in the ongoing Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament being played at M.A. stadium here today. GGM Science College won the toss and decided to bowl first. Govt. Medical College made 179/9 in the stipulated 35 overs. Rajpal Singh was the top scorer with 62 runs comprised to two hits to the fence. He was equally well supported by Ajaz Ahmed and Rakesh Wani who also contributed useful 35 and 18 runs respectively. For GGM Science College, Rajinder took four wickets followed by Dheraj and Jasbir who scalped one wicket each. In reply, GGM Science College chased the winning target in 35 overs with one wicket to spare. Vishal and Manjeet were the star performers who scored 26 and 25 runs respectively. Sushil and Vaishno also played well for their knocks of 21 and 35 runs respectively. For Govt. Medical College, Rajesh Yadav and Rajpal Singh grabbed two and three wickets respectively. Rajpal Singh was declared the man of the match.

In the second match,Degree College Bhaderwah trounced Degree College Udhampur by 22 runs. DC Bhaderwah batting first after winning the toss made 139 runs in 26.3 overs. Rahul and Mohsin were the top scorers with 24 and 19 runs. For DC Udhampur, Anil and Ashwani took four and one wicket respectively. In reply, DC Udhampur fell short of 22 runs as they were all out for 118 runs in 32.3 overs. Vikram and Sahdev scored 27 and 22 runs respectively. For DC Bhaderwah, Vikram scalped three wickets while Mudassar and Sandeep took two wickets each. The umpires in the match were Sandeepan and Ranjay.

NZ Body Building Championship from today

JAMMU Nov 11: The 12th North Zone Senior National Body Building Championship would commence at Mini Stadium Parade tomorrow. Ram Sahai President Chamber of Commerce and Industries and President All J&K Body Building Association Secretary J&K Body Building Association while briefing the media persons said " Near about 100 participants from nine states namely H.P., Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and host J&K will participate in the above said championship. Others who were present on the occasion were Rajeev Charak General Secretary J&K Body Building Association and Dr. Randhir Vice President North Zone Body Building Federation.

Yoga Championship concludes

JAMMU Nov. 11: The Srinagar District yoga championship was concluded at Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar here today. Total 90 yoga players participated in different age groups. Musaib Afzal (RCC) stood first in 8-1 yrs age group while Irshaid Lone (RCC) secured first position in 14 -17 age group. In girls 11-14 age group, Yusra Anjum stood first. Usra Anjum of Britrish School and Anjum Afzal of RCC were adjudged the best players of the championship. Abdul Rouf, Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council was the chief guest on the occassion who gave away prizes among the winners. The competition was organised by J&K Yoga Association under the supervision of Shabir Ahmad, Yoga Instructor and Sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.

Distt level U/14 Inter School Athletic Meet begins

JAMMU Nov 11: The three day distt. level Inter School Athletic Meet for U/14 boys and girls started at Sports Stadium here today. The tournament is being organised by the department of Youth Services and Sports Distt. Udhampur. Total 298 boys and girls from 37 institutions of distt. Udhampur are participating in the Athletic Meet held in 100 mts, 200 mts, and 600 mts. In 600 mts girls final, Sushma Devi of H/S Barta bagged gold medal.Anju Devi of GHS Ramnagar and Pinki Devi of M/S Barian won silver and bronze medals respectively. However, the final in 100 mts and 200 mts in both boys and girls section will be held tomorrow.

Cross Country Competition held

JAMMU, Nov. 11: The second Cross Country Competition for was conducted at Sainik School Nagrota here today. Over 400 cadets from both senior and junior categories took part in the competitions. Cadets Kundan Kumar and Cadet Sanjeet Kumar stood first in senior category while Cadet Pushkar Tiwari finished second. Cadet Adil Manzoor bagged first prize. Chenab Seniors finished top among seniors whereas Jhelum stood second in junior category. VT Patnaik Principal distributed medals to individual winners and complimented the cadets for their excellent performance.

Boys Kumite 7-9 yrs: Ajay Kumar (1st), Paritosh (2nd), Usman and Mudit (3rd).

5-7 yrs: Mahim (1st), Manik (2nd), Ishan and Chahat (3rd).

Girls Kumite 5-7 yrs: Ambhika Gupta (1st), Vasudha (2nd), Divyakshi and Andita Anand (3rd).

Himalayan School clinch softball final

Rajouri, Nov 11: Himalayan Education Mission School Rajouri defeated Panarama Public School Rajouri by 2-1 to claim Soft Ball final which was conducted by the J&K Soft Ball Association in collaboration with DYSS at Rajouri here today.

Total seven teams from different schools from Rajouri participated in the tournament. Mohd. Din Distt. Sports Officer Rajouri was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away medals to the winner and runner up teams.
