DLF to set up Rs 1,000cr IT Sez in Orissa

NEW DELHI, Nov 11: DLF Limited today announced that it has been awarded a Rs 1,000 crore contract by the Orissa government to set up the state's first Information Technology Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The lease-cum-development agreement was signed between Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and DLF for developing 54 acres of land opposite InfoCity in Chandaka Industrial Estate, Bhubaneswar.

The project envisages construction of 4.12 million square feet of built up space, of which a minimum of 60 per cent would be dedicated to IT.

The land would be made available to the company, selected through an open competitive bidding process, on 70-year lease basis at Rs 44 crore, about Rs 81 lakh per acre.

The amount, Rs 1,000 crore, is inclusive of land acquisition.

Mr Vishal Dev, Director, Department of IT, Orissa, said that the project would give a boost to the growth of IT and ITeS services in the state creating direct employment opportunities for about 25,000 software professionals.

He was addressing the VAR India IT Award ceremony here.

He said apart from 60 per cent of the built up area that will be used for IT, rest will be used for building a five star hotel, an integrating office, and business and recreational needs. (UNI)

HZL reduces zinc, lead prices

NEW DELHI, Nov 11: Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) today decreased its zinc prices by 0.1 per cent to Rs 2,33,400 per tonne from Rs 2,33,600 per tonne.

The company also decreased the prices of lead by 0.5 per cent to Rs 88,400 per tonne from Rs 88,800 per tonne, HZL said in a release.

The new rates would be put into effect today, the release added. (PTI)

Sugar remains firm on fresh buying

NEW DELHI, Nov 11: Sugar mill gate prices rose on the wholesale sugar market here today following fresh buying in the wake of restricted supply and ended higher.

Marketmen said buying by stockists and retailers amid restricted supply mainly pushed up mill gate sugar prices.

In the millgate section, Daurla, Baghpat and Mawana were up at Rs 1815, Rs 1735 and Rs 1830 a quintal respectively on heavy purchases by stockists.

Following were today's quotations in rupee per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 1880-1970 and S-30 1870-1960.

Mill delivery M-30 1710-1830 and S-30 1700-1820.

NEW DELHI, Nov 11: Freight rates for the nine metric tonne pay load section for select destinations rose on the local truck transport market here today following less availability of lorries by busy cargo movements.

Transporters said tight availability of trucks helped by busy cargo movements pushed up select centres freight rates.

Delhi to Indore, Pune and Surat freights went up by Rs 500 each at Rs 11.500, Rs 19,000 and Rs 12,000 respectively.

NEW DELHI, Nov 11: Steady conditions persisted on the wholesale gur (jaggery) market today as prices by and large after moving in a tight range on some deals, settled around previous levels.

Marketmen said negiligible enquiries from traders due to paucity of funds mainly kept prices unchanged.

A similar trend also persisted at Muzzafar Nagar and Murad Nagar markets, they said.

Following were today’s quotations:

Chakku 1300-1350, Pedi 1400-1450 and Dhayya 1400-1450 Shakkar 1550-1600 and Khandsari 2000-2100.

"With this launch, we will provide high allocation and offer our customers the flexibility to manage their own investments actively based on their changing finanical needs, be it maximum cover," CEO Sam Ghosh said.

NEW DELHI, Nov 11: Arhar and rajmah strengthened in the wholesale pulses market today on stockists buying, triggered by firming advices from producing belts and ended in positive zone.

Other commodities, however, continued to be traded in a limited range on some deals and settled around previous closing.

Traders said reports of firming trends from producing belts mainly pushed up select commodity prices.

Arhar Maharashtra and Karnataka traded Rs 50 each higher at Rs 1900-2000 and Rs 2075-2150 per quintal respectively.

Rajmah chitra pune gained Rs 50 at Rs 4200-4850 per quintal on retailers buying.

Meanwhile, gram and its dal (local) remained flat at Rs 3060-3080 and Rs 3585-3685 per quintal respectively.

NEW DELHI, Nov 11: Edible oils firmed in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on increased demand from refining mills and retailers and ended in positive zone.

A few oils, in the non-edible section, also strengthened on increased demand from consuming industries.

Marketmen said pick up in demand from vanaspati units and local parties gave push to rising edible oil prices.

In the edible oil section, groundnut mill delivery oil posted Rs 50 higher at Rs 5,450 a quintal while groundnut solvent refined oil gained Rs 10 at Rs 970-1,000 per tin of 15 litre.

Mustard expeller oil was also in some demand and posted Rs 20 higher at Rs 4,320 a quintal.

Sesame and cottonseed mill delivery oils in line with general trend ended notably higher at Rs 4,650 and Rs 4,200 a quintal against last close of Rs 4,600 and Rs 4,160.

Soyabean refined mil delivery and soyabean degum oils were also in good demand and strengthened to Rs 4,450 and Rs 4,250 a quintal respectively largely in tandem with global markets.

NEW DELHI, Nov 11: Barring a marginal fall in cashew kernel, prices of other dry fruits fluctuated in a tight range on the wholesale dry fruit market today on some deals and settled on a flat note.

Marketmen said trading activity remained restricted in view of paucity of funds, keeping most of the dry fruits prices unchanged.

Cashew kernel varities, No 180, No 240 and No 320 drifted to Rs 460-490, Rs 305-325 and Rs 250-265 from previous level of Rs 480-500, Rs 330-340 and Rs 250-270 per kilo respectively.

Spices decline on sufficient stocks

NEW DELHI, Nov 11: The wholesale kirana market closed on a weak note today with spice prices declining on selling pressure and closed with sharp losses.

Traders said slowdown in buying by local parties with increased offering by stockists pull down prices.

Mace red and yellow slipped to Rs 475-485 each from Rs 490-495 and Rs 495-500 per kilo.

Netmeg marked lower at Rs 230-240 from previous level of Rs 240-250 per kilo.

Tamarind also followed and eased by Rs 100 at Rs 1200-1600 per quintal.

Turmeric too a negetive note and quoted lower at Rs 2700-4100 against previous close of Rs 2800-4300 per quintal.
