Plea to Chairman PSC

Sir,

It is to bring to the notice of Chairman J&K Public Service Commission and Chairman J&K Services Selection Board about the advertisement notices advertised by the both recruiting agencies for the posts of Assistant Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Civil) respectively.

The J&K Services Selection Board has advertised the posts of Junior Engineer (Civil) Vide advertisement notice No. 03 of 2004 dated 14/09/2004 and 04 of 2005 dated 14/09/2005.

The J&K Public Service Commission has also advertised for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) Vide advertisement notice No. 06 PSC of 2005 dated 13/05/2005 and 12 PSC of 2005 dated 20/09/2005. The eligibility for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) is degree and diploma in Civil Engineering.

Now here I suggest the chairman Public Service Commission to make recruitment for the post of A.E (Civil) before the recruitment process made by the J&K Services Selection Board for the post of J.E (Civil). By doing so the number of candidates for the post of J.E (Civil) will get reduced as many degree holders will be get appointed as A.E (Civil) and by this J&K Services Selection Board will make appointment of J.E Civil in a Single stroke otherwise some posts of JE (Civil) will fall vacant if Public Service Commission will make their appointment after the selection process of J&K Services Selection Board.

Therefore, keeping in view the above facts, I request on behalf of diploma holder (Civil) Engineering candidates to the Chairman J&K Public Service Commission and other concerned authorities to make recruitment for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) before the recruitment of Junior Engineer (Civil) by J&K Services Selection Board.

Catch them young

Sir,

Apropos the news item ' A fast bowling hope from the Valley' DE Mar 4.

The emergence of fast bowlers in Indian cricket team is a good news for cricket lovers. The team selectors particularly Kiran More, Rahul Dravid and Grag Chappel are doing a commendable job. They have placed before the team various options. And these options are rotated as per the needs of the team. This policy has yielded dividends for the team so far.

There is immense talent hidden in remote corners of India. This needs to be explored, and polished, as has been the case with Munaf Patel, the emerging fast bowler of India. The States should organise various camps at tehsil, district and State level to let the players with potential come forward.

All facilities should be extended to the promising players. Once that is done, they should be allowed to undergo training at Cricket Academies. Financial help should also be extended to them. Once that is done, there will be sufficient talent available with the selectors. And Indian Cricket team will touch dizzy heights.

Strike hard

Sir,

This has reference to the editorial' Strike hard' published in the Daily Excelsior dated Mar 14. The detention of Hizbul Majahideen Chief Syed Salahuddin by Pak authorities is just to hoodwink the world. We have been watching Pakistan playing such games time and again. When terrorists struck at World Trade Centres. Pakistani Government launched a nation wide crackdown against terrorists. Hundreds of them, were in car created, even some militants camps were demolished. But what happened later on, is before us. These militants were released one by one, and training camps were raised again. There was no let up in militancy. Murder and mayhem is on. Had Pakistan been sincere in its approach towards terrorists, terrorism would have come to an end by this time. See the hollowness in the claim 'Pakistan has influence on militants, but cannot control them'. This is quite absurd. If Pakistan Government can initiate action against people in Balochistan and Wazaristan, why cannot it do so in Azad Kashmir or in parts controlled by militants in Pakistan who are against India. Since Pakistan is not interested in it, so the process is on. The world authorities should exert pressure on Pakistan to yield desired results. The editor has rightly said that Pakistan has only one option before it i,e ''to strike hard against them. ''
