A plea
to J&K Edu Board
Sir,
The results of class 12th
examination were declared on 16th May.
Many students were not satisfied with
result so they filled in re-evaluation
forms for different subjects. Most of the
students who had failed by a narrow
margin in one or two subjects opted for
re-evaluation. Now these students cannot
fill in forms for any competitive
examination nor can they apply for any
professional course till the result of
re-evaluation are not declared. In this
way a whole academic year as well as the
future of such students is at stake who
needed a few marks to pass in respective
subjects.
Now more than two months
have passed since the results were
declared . It is hoped that J&K Board
of School Education will speed up the
process of re-evaluation and declare the
results as soon as possible.

No to
populist schemes
Sir,
The current steep rise in
articles of daily consumption is causing
great hardship to the people. The present
Government has put the blame for the
price rise to the previous Government
conveniently forgetting that they have
been in power for the last over two
years.
The price rise is the
classic inflationary spiral fueled by
populist scheme; ever increasing
taxation, as also deficit financing. If
the Government continues for another two
years, we are sure to be faced with 9/10
percent inflation, 16 to 18 percent rate
of interest, shortage and rationing of
every commodity. Of course such a
scenario suits the Government as controls
and rationing are tailor made to make
money:
'Inspector Raj' days would
be back and politicians would make hay.

Call
centre and ageing
Sir,
The recent report that
ageing sets in early in BPO (Call Centre)
employees has brought to tight a new
problem. Whether BPO induced ageing is a
life style disease or not but one thing
is clear that when normal sleep is denied
to an individual he experiences fatigue.
When such type of habit becomes routine
the internal mechanism gets distablised.
It is no secret that to earn more and
that too at an early age has destablised
the whole social system of our time.
Imagine tens and thousands of BPO
employees, deprived of sleep, mentally
depressed and physically burnt out,
whether such young people can contribute
to national development on a sustained
basis or turn a liability needs to be
seen. Meanwhile BPOs are on the rise, at
what cost, at least according to the
report is not difficult to imagine.

G-8 and
India
Sir,
The Group-8 summit in the
Garden city of Russia-St-Petersberg has
ended. At least from Indian point of view
it has ended on a promising note. The
idea of President Putin to include India
along with China and Brazil is welcome
one. But this needs the full approval of
other members of Group-8. It is a matter
of time before such thing happens but it
will happen. Now India is one of the most
important economies of the world. It is a
huge consumer of energy, besides being a
vast market. India is making its presence
felt all over the world. Thus it is no
surprise that Putin has made such a
remark in St. Petersberg.
