Dogra
Liberation Front activists stage dharna
Excelsior
Correspondent
JAMMU, July 14: Activists of Dogra
Liberation Front (DLF) held a
demonstration and staged dharna outside
the office of Divisional Commissioner
Jammu here today.
A protest
dharna was organised by the Front leaders
drawing attention of the Government
towards neglected Mubarik Mandi palace
complex. They urged upon the State
Government to save river Tawi from
increasing pollution level and take
affective measures to stop direct flow of
drain waters from old city to the river
Tawi. They also shouted slogans against
the Government.
Various
front leaders including Ram Paul Sharma,
Mr Kapil and Surjit Singh while
addressing the activists criticised the
Government for not taking desired
measures to protect the Dogra heritage at
Mubarik Mandi. They alleged that
remaining portion of the Mubarik Mandi
palace was at the verge of collapse and
many items including timber and iron
grills are being stolen from the complex.
There was need to deploy security and
ensure repair work. The Centre must be
requested to take control of this
monument and maintain its glory.
They
pointed out that funds to the tune of
worth crores are being spent to save Dal
lake but monuments of Jammu and other
sites of historic importance here are
being discriminated. The promises made by
several Ministers were not honoured. They
said that Tawi river which is worshiped
by the people of the region and known as
Surya Putri, is highly
polluted. The old city drains directly
flow down to the river causing its water
highly polluted. There is great need to
formulate a major project for cleanliness
of river Tawi and save it from increasing
pollution level.
Later, a
memorandum was submitted to the
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Parmod
Jain, who assured that necessary steps
would be taken to save river Tawi from

DB
should name all culprits or else
well make it public
Dukhtaraan
chief alleges Centres
intervention
Excelsior
Correspondent
SRINAGAR,
July 14: Chief of
the radical womens
organisations
Dukhtaraan-e-Millat, Asiya
Andrabi, today threatened to
bring out the "hundred
percent confirmed list of the
culprits" of the infamous
"Srinagar sex scandal"
in case a Division Bench (DB) of
J&K High Court did not reveal
the names.
In
a statement delivered on offices
of all media organisations here
this afternoon, Asiya Andrabi
alleged that her apprehensions of
tampering with the evidences in
the sex scandal had
come true as the UPA Government,
according to her, had directed
CBI not to lay its hands on two
senior leaders of the Congress
party.
"Those
arrested so far are all small
fries. Names of all the
crocodiles in the sex scandal
have vanished. We have confirmed
reports that the UPA Government
has issued strict instructions to
CBI not to lay its hands on six
Ministers of the coalition
government, particularly two
senior members of Congress
party", Asiya said in her
statement.
"We
request the Division Bench to
realise the sensitivity of the
matter and reveal the names of
all the culprits or else we will
be constrained to make it public
for ourselves", added Asiya
in her Press release without
completing the formality of
filing a CMP before the DB as
required by law. Her argument is
that making the list public would
end the menace of blackmailing
and defaming respected citizens.
She said in her statement that
she was in possession of a
"hundred percent confirmed
list" but had not made it
public due to a restriction from
the DB.
