3 reputed developers submit concept plans
Jammu may soon get its first multiplex-cum-mall

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Jan 8: Jammu may soon get its first multiplex-cum-mall on the pattern of metros as the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has received a good response from the reputed developers.

To examine the concept plans of the developers submitted to the JDA, the State Government is likely to frame an expert committee shortly.

Authoritative sources told the EXCELSIOR that proposal to construct first multiplex-cum-mall was mooted by Jammu Development Authority (JDA) under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Scheme and identified land near Bahu Plaza for the same. The motive behind this proposal was to uplift Jammu from the shops culture and to bring it at par with the metro-cities.

Since JDA had no experience in the field, it invited tenders from the reputed developers in the country with the minimum turnover of Rs 25 crore, the sources said and added that a total of seven companies showed their interest in developing Jammu’s first multiplex-cum-mall.

However, three companies— Parvasnath, Bestech and Ahluwalia Constructions were shortlisted for developing multiplex-cum-mall and their concept plans were invited for detailed study and examination by the experts, the sources said and added that JDA has made it clear to all the three companies that JDA will only provide land to them and all sorts of investments would be theirs.

Now everything is in the final shape and Government will soon frame an expert committee to examine the concept plans of all the three developers and give go ahead signal to one of them. "The expert committee will have senior officers of State besides some experts from outside", the sources said and added that even Director-cum-Vice Chancellor of Delhi School of Architecture would be consulted.

Since Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Housing and Urban Development Minister Tariq Hamid Qarra have vast knowledge in the urban development field, there is possibility of early settlement of things with regard to multiplex-cum-mall.

When contacted Vice-Chairman JDA K B Jandial confirmed that the reputed developers have shown keen interest in developing Jammu’s first multiplex-cum-mall and said that an expert committee will soon be framed to examine the concept plans of the developers.

"Though we will not be involved in construction work yet in the proposal there is a provision of periodical checking of quality of the work by different State Government agencies", he said.

Nonial receives erratic water, electricity supply

We the resident of village Nonial (Nowshera) Distt. Rajouri want to draw the attention of concerned higher authorities to the fact that we are facing many problems due to irregular supply of drinking water and power. The water supply system in our area is totally defunct. The last time water was supplied was on 12.12.2005 in our village especially in Ward No. 7, after an interval of 15 days. Just imagine how it is possible to survive without drinking water. The natural sources of water (springs) has dried due to the effect of earthquake and crisis of drinking water is increasing in the village. Our request to the higher authorities of P.H.E. Department is to replace the non-functional pump, mortor, etc whichever is defective in the whole system and make the supply of tap water possible daily. Moreover, power department Nowshera is also creating problem for us. We are treated callously from last several months. It has been noticed that the power often remains off when it is required most i.e., from 5 A.M. to 7 A.M. and from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. The study of our school/college going children is suffering very badly alongwith other domestic work. Higher authorities are here by requested to direct the power deptt. NSR to avoid un-wanted curtailment especially from 4 A.M. to 7 A.M. and from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M. atleast in our village.

Rajpora

residents' plea

The residents of Rajpora near Rajpora park are facing dust pollution these days. This is the result of the earth that has been dug from the nearby pond. The earth so removed has been laid on the roadside, which in turn has choked the drain flowing nearby. As the water finds no outlet, it flows onto the road surface, creating inconvenience to the residents. Moreover during dry weather columns of dust rise which pollute the atmosphere.

Therefore, it is requested to the concerned agencies to clear the drain and remove the earth from the park.

Upgrade health centre joura

There is one health Sub-Centre in our village Joura, Tehsil Thathri, District Doda. It is catering to the needs of nearly 10 surrounding villages and 20 hamlets inhabited by nearly sixty thousand people.

At present there is one post of Medical Assistant and one that of A.N.M. These two employees can hardly cope up with the rush of patients. Since the Medical Assistant can not treat serious cases, they are to be shifted to the nearest medical centres outside their home localities. But these poor people can not afford renting rooms and arranging food and bedding in addition to the cost of medicine. etc.

In view of the above facts, kindly up-grade the Sub-Centre Joura to the level of a P.H.C. If this be not possible at present at least a post of Assistant Surgeon be sanctioned for the centre and an Assistant Surgeon be provided to save the people from further inconvenience and suffering.

I request to the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to give sympathetic consideration to our genuine demand and order for up-gradation of Health Sub-Centre Joura to a P.H.C. as soon as possible.

Swami Ji, while highlighting the four techniques of Parmahansa Yogananda for attainment of peace and happiness said, this great saint has stressed on energizing exercise which helps one to maintain good health and ability to control energy within the body.

The another technique suggested by Yogananda is concentration technique which enables one to fully focus his mind on God or any of his normal worldly duties.

The third technique according to Swami Ji on which the Parmahansa has laid stress is Meditation Technique. Through this technique one experiences the presence of God. And the fourth technique is known as Kriya Yoga. This is a highly advanced medication technique which enables one to purify his body, awaken his brain cells and achieve cosmic conscience, he added.
