Ah!
Chaman Lal ''Chaman''
Sir,
A grat soul, the ardent
lover of plants, the son of soil, Mr.
Chaman Lal ''Chaman'' used to deliver
lecturers in schools and colleges for
decades together, trying to inculcate the
sense of love towards the green wealth.
He was a person, nay a one-man
organisation, who died every thing, he
could (do) for protection of plants. He
had no means to pull ahead his mission,
but this handicap did not deter him from
his passion for plant protection.
It would be an act of Sheer
ungratefulness if such a pious soul goes
unsung. Neither the powerful nor the
lovers of nature have shed any tears over
his pathetic end.
I remember, he would write
with a piece of chalk on city walls and
recite poems and slogans for protection
of plants. One of the most popular poems
was always on the tips of school
children, ''Wood is good, tree is
better.....
His last days were in utter
misery. He didn't have any money to fall
back upon during his old age and couldn't
get any financial assistance from any
source for getting him treated for his
ill health, which ultimately snatched
this great soul from us a few days back.
I salute this great hero
from the core of my heart.

Jhiri-Katra
Road
Sir,
By experiencing pilgrims'
record beat heavy rush in Baba Jito's
seven days annual festival at Jhiri this
year the State Government has made up its
mind to develop Jhiri as pilgrim-tourist
spot by creating all the needed
infrastructural facilities, especially a
vehicular road directly linking Jhiri
with Katra, for the visitors. The gesture
is impressive and encouraging. It has
kindled many hopes in the hearts of
Duggar Pradesh people for having
pilgrim-tourism boost in the days to come
in this part of the region.
In this context the
Jhiri-Katra roads needs to be constructed
via Aghar Jito i.e; Baba Jito's birth
place and original shrine site. It is
situated adjacent to Shri Mata Vaishno
Devi's holy Katra town. By this way both
the shrines of Baba Jito would be
connected with a direct road link. The
provision would surely have multi
dimensional and far-reaching impacts on
the pilgrim-Tourists of Baba Jito as well
as Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji. All the
three significant destinations of
pilgrim-tourism importance would be
connected with one road link. The
visitors coming over here on this route
would get much more than their
expectations. And on the other side Baba
Jito's famous shrine site at Aghar,
though under Shri Mata Vaishno Devi
Shrine Board Katra yet ever ignored one
in all respects, would also get due
attention, exploration and promotion. The
step would enrich this part of Katra too
in many ways.

Respect
for elders
Sir,
Our State is famous for a
rich cultural heritage. The city of Jammu
is famous particularly for the
hospitality and peace loving people. But
over the years there has been a step rise
in the crime against the elder citizens.
We seem to have lost our respect for our
elders. We forget that these elders once
taught us to write and read. They taught
us to stand on our feet.
But nowadays we see a number
of elders who are alone in their homes
because we do not want to live with them.
The younger generation does not want to
communicate with the old parents. The
result is that these elders who otherwise
deserve all our respect and honour are
left to fend for themselves. On the
roadside if we happen to see an
oldman/women finding it difficult to
cross the road we do not voluanteer to
come forward and help them cross the busy
road. In buses or matadors which are
jampacked we hardly think it feasible to
offer a seat to the old or infirm.
Though the graph of
education has gone up but it seems that
the graph of our devotion to duties is
going down. We must do a deep thinking
withourselves and rectify our wrongs.

CIC
managers
Sir,
Under one of the Central
Govt. sponsored scheme in the State each
block level one Community Information
Centre was established. This scheme is
sponsored for 5 years by the Centre Govt.
and after 5 years State Govt. will
takeover this scheme. Presently these
centers are running successfully and
providing computer awareness and
information in rural areas. At each CIC
center two CIC Managers are appointed on
contractual basis for Rs.5500 per month.
All these CIC Managers are well
qualified. But these CIC Managers are
uncertain about their future. Because
State Govt. have no clear policy for
their future and also the future of
CICs. These CIC Managers didt
even get their salary for last 6 months
and some even for 12 months.
This is really a matter of
great concern that so much money is spent
on such scheme and State Govt. is not
concerned about the future of the CIC
managers. It is therefore requested to
the Govt. to please look into this matter
and save the future of CIC.
Yours
etc
Manoj Singh
and all CIC Managers
