Prudential
ICICI AMC in Jammu
Excelsior
Correspondent
JAMMU, Aug
25: Indian Mutual Fund
Industry which has witnessed a
drastic change over the years is
actively reaching out to public
at large by conducting investor
camps, distributor training and
even getting them AMFI
(Association of Mutual Funds of
India) certified across the
country.
One
such session was also conducted
at Hotel K C Residency, Residency
Road here recently with an
objective to promote informed
investments through a strong
network of trained distributors.
This
was stated in a handout issued by
the ICICI MF here, today. It said
since most of the products are
distributed through distribution
channels like agents, IFAs,
brokers etc, the House believes
that it is very crucial that
these channels are well trained
and educated to give the right
advise to the customers.
It
said the last decade has been a
period of rapid growth yet Mutual
Fund Industry is characterized by
concerns like low penetration,
lack of depth in distribution and
most importantly low investor
awareness.
The
handout said in India it is
estimated that only 6.7 percent
of the households hold Mutual
Funds. This figure is close to 50
percent in case of US and 17
percent in case of UK . The
Mutual Funds account for only
about one percent of total
financial assets in India (11
percent of bank deposits). Such
poor penetration is out come of
the other shortcomings.
