BRUSSELS, Sept. 20: Aeroplane hijacker-turned-political activist Hashim Qureshi is, among other things, known for something unique: When he reached Heathrow Airport to participate in the IKA’s first intra-Kashmir conference in London in May 2004, he was forced to return to Amsterdam by the first available flight. His story was no different when he landed at a Canada airport to participate in the IKA’s second Kashmir conference in Toronto in November 2004. This time around, things were different—thanks to the venue. Being resident of an European Union country—The Netherlands—Qureshi travelled all the way from his Amsterdam home in a car and nobody stopped him from participating in the IKA’s third intra-Kashmir conclave......more
