SRINAGAR, Nov 16: Four civilians got killed and 72 others—including a former Minister Usman Majeed—sustained injuries in a powerful car bomb explosion near the main entrance of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Corporate Headquarters here today. Today’s blast, which was owned up by guerrilla outfit Al-Arifeen, came a day after another former Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir sustained injuries alongwith 90 of his party activists and Police officials at Tangmarg. With three more PDP activists succumbing to injuries today, yesterday’s militant strike in Tangmarg has taken a toll of six civilians............more

Peerzada’s involvement appears knee deep: SAC
*Minister impleaded as respondent in electrification scam

JAMMU, Nov 16: Observing that former Minister for Rural Development Department Peerzada Mohd Sayeed was ‘fully involved’ in the transaction and his involvement appears to be " knee deep" in the much publicized Panchayat Ghars electrification scam, the State Accountability Commission ( SAC) today ordered that the concerned Minister be impleaded as respondent and directed him to explain his conduct and file statement of defence by December 8, 2005 when the case will be taken up for further proceedings.........more
