Start employment newspaper

Sir,

Today the problem of educated unemployed is causing worry to the national leaders and the Government. The number of graduates and post-graduates who come out of our colleges and universities in increasing day by day with the result that the problem of educated unemployment is taking a serious turn. Even engineering graduates are wandering from place to place in search of jobs. The medical students fare no better. The medical profession is also reaching the saturation point.

The results of unemployment are often tragic as most of the unemployed indulge in anti-social activities like riots, loots, arson etc.

No doubt, the Government of J&K has set up a number of employment exchanges, service selection board and Public Service Commission to recruit the educated unemployed candidates by advertising these posts through leading Dailies of Jammu and Kashmir State. But all these measures have proved inadequate to solve the problem of unemployment in rural far flung areas of J&K State. The reason for this is well known to everybody that these papers are not reachable in far flung areas daily. So the unemployed educated youths of rural areas get deprive of these advertisements as they have no scope of getting these papers daily. To solve this problem, Govt. of J&K should start publishing of Employment news paper weekly on the pattern of employment newspaper being published by the Central Govt. for Central Govt. Jobs. The control of this paper should be under Govt. of J&K State and all posts of State Govt. jobs should advertise through this paper on weekly basis. It will provide chance to the rural, far flung educated unemployed candidates to apply for the said advertisement and they could get it managed from Newspaper agencies within a weeks time and it will reduce financial burden on them also as they have to pay less for this paper as compared to other daily papers of J&K State. It will eradicate unemployment in rural areas to a large extent as they will get the information at right time.

So, it is my request to the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohd. Sayeed and other concerned authorities to look into the matter and decide for early start of this employment newspaper.

I hope early redressal of this demand.

Computer literacy

Sir,

In today's age of science, computerization has a vital role to play. It would not be wrong if we call today's age an age of computerization. A decade and half earlier the progress in this respect was a bit slow but now it appears that the era of computerization has come of age. The advent of computers has changed the lot of Govt/private Offices which has brought efficiency and quality in its working in the wake of speeding up the flow of work. The accuracy and speed are the hall mark of computerization. Computerization in fact has brought a revolution in almost all fields be it Banking, Publishing industry, Commerce, Airways, Space, Railway, Seismology, Manufacturing & engineering etc and what not. And now even the people have started keeping CP's at home depending upon their work requirements. Due to myriad benefits of this fast paced technology it is difficult to imagine life without computerization. Again, it would not be wrong if one would say that computer literacy is the need of the hour.

Wind up wool board

Sir,

The Jammu & Kashmir Govt is planning to set up ''Asset reconstructions company'' (ARC) to make commercial activity in loss making public sector enterprises profitable. J&K has 19 corporations & public sector enterprises out of which 14 are loss making. The cumulative losses stand at whooping Rs. 15,253 crores.

A year ago on the recommendations of Godbole committee report, JK Govt a golden hand shake scheme was introduced for voluntary retirement of wool mill employees. The Himalayan wool combers was established to give flip to breed sheep for fine wool which never clicked as the ground conditions are not favourable to breed sheep as shivalik jungles are thorny & have no pastures for sheep, instead rearing goats flourished here. But shivaliks forests are gone now & Bakerwals are leaving the traditional occupation of goat reasing.

Himalyan wool comber never got the raw wool for its capacity utilization and J&K state is still pessuing breeding sheep for fine wool but it would be nice of things that State Govt starts an export oriented meat industry by establishing modern abbatoirs. India has best varieties of buffaloes, sheep & goats which produce excellent meat & we too have a big domestic meat market. All the schemes of Govt. promoting fine wool sheep breeding must be scrapped and wool board should be renamed as meat board.
