A suggestion for students

Sir,

First of all I want to say that I’m a regular reader of "Daily Excelsior" though I’m not living in Jammu and Kashmir now. I congratulate you on your success of Internet Edition because of which a lot of people who may or may not belong to Jammu and Kashmir get opportunity to read their favourite paper. This really gives a sense of pride to the person who belongs to Jammu and Kashmir to read ur newpaper while sitting in any part of the world.

I want to spread the message to the student community of Jammu and Kashmir that they should not confine themselves to studies only, they should also try to grab the opportunities to give worth to their studies. They should look for the utility of their studies. I am concerned more about the students pursuing or want to pursue IT courses like MCA, BE(IT/Comp. Sc.), BCA, BSc(IT/Comp. Sc.). There is good education standard of these courses in Jammu. I also want to inform them that there is huge demand of IT professional by 2009.

IT majors like Wipro, Infosys, CTS, MBT are also recruiting BCA/BSc(IT/Comp. Sc./Maths.) candidates every year. After selecting the candidate some companies sponsor these candidates to pursue Higher Degress from reputed universities (like IIM, BITS, Symbiosis). One has to search the opportunities to grab them. They should keep themselves open to read recruitment papers like Ascent(Comes with the wednesday Edition of The Times of India) and websites like http://www.monster.com. They need to appear for written test of these companies followed by Interview/Group Discussion. These tests are not so tough as the students think.

I am writing this because I am the only person from Jammu who has been selected in Wipro Technologies after BCA (I really dont like this). The reason I think is that students had not applied for that.

I once again suggest the students to apply whereever the opportunity comes and leave the rest.

Solving Baghliar issue

Sir,

The construction of Baghliar project will be of great benefit to the power starved citizens of Jammu and Kashmir. And for its smooth functioning it is necessary to come out of the current impasse. Any positive forward movement on this account through mutual negotiation would have signalled a new maturity in Indo-Pak relations.

Who knows perhaps such a process will also throw up a model for solving problems of this kind which are harming relations between New Delhi and Islamabad. Both countries should start feeling incomplete without each other and should work together for any project like Baghliar or Neelum-Jhelum project beneficial to the millions of people on either side of the LoC. Opening of Sringar Muzaffarabd road is the begining of the solution of all the other issue pending between the two nations, let Baghliar be the second step!

Burgeoning population

Sir,

The burgeoning population of the country is matter of concern of every body. India's population has already cross on billion mark and is the second largely populated country in the world after China. The larger population of the country may be a boon in terms of cheaper labour force but have wider repercussions when viewed in totality.

The ever increasing population of the country apart from eating into the economic progress of the country is also bringing in its wake myriad problems. The life of the people seemingly becoming comfortable in view of scientific and technological development now appears to be becoming hard and strenuous and the people have now started feeling the pinch following this problem. And the results are before every body to see in terms of daily encounters. Just ponder over this issue and one will find the burgeoning of the country responsible for all the uneasiness and awkward situations faced by the people on almost a daily basis. Go to any place viz Hospital, Bus stand, Railways station, markets etc one would countenance difficulties emanating from the crowded places allowing anti social elements to have a field day.

Earlier, people used to visit the private clinic of the doctors having the feeling that there they would not have to wait for a longer times considering paucity of times also the reason for avoiding hospitals in view of huge rush over there. But now the situation is almost the same and even worse in some of the clinics bringing lot of strain upon the patients as well as the attendants. Certainly the result of ever increasing population of the country and thus a cause of concern for every one.
