Moderate intensity quake hits Kashmir

NEW DELHI, An earthquake of moderate intensity measuring 5.2 on the richter scale hit Kashmir early today.

The tremor was felt at 0335 hrs, India Meteorological Department said.

The quake was epicentered at 33.8 degrees north and 73.8 degrees east, the IMD added. (UNI)

Azad warns against bunglings in quake relief

JAMMU, Dec 28: Candidly admitting that there was some mismanagement at the initial stage while distributing relief in the earthquake affected areas, Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad today warned that he will not tolerate any bunglings or corruption in relief and rehabilitation operations. Reiterating Government’s committment to rehabilitate all affected families as early as possible, the Chief Minister informed that a reconstruction plan of Rs 1342 crore has been sent to the Union Government for approval. ...........more

SVO to get powers to seize, attach property
