SRINAGAR, Dec 8: Taking a serious note of the cumulative pendency or outright rejection of the Public Safety Act (PSA) dossiers submitted by the District Superintendents of Police, Congress-led PDP Government has decided to remove at least three Deputy Commissioners from their present places of posting in near future. Two of these DCs have been heading the civil administration in two districts in Kashmir valley. Meanwhile, Police have arrested 22 militants and seized a video film of the fidayeen who had planned an attack on the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s public meeting in Srinagar in November 2004............more

CM sanctions 8 officials’ prosecution

Jammu, Dec 8: Continuing with his war against corruption and close on the heels of raids by the State Vigilance Organization (SVO) on the premises of several officials on Wednesday, Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad today sanctioned prosecution of eight Government officials against whom the organization has prima facie established the cases for accepting illegal gratification and misuse of office........more

JAMMU, Dec 8: On second day of raids, which concluded this afternoon, the Vigilance Organisation today unearthed huge investments of five officers and found that they had a number of bank accounts and lockers. While one officer had 23 bank accounts and two attachees full of bonds, Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDRs) and investments, another officer had shifted many costlier items to the house of his friends, relatives and neighbours as a word had already gone around that the Government was going to be very harsh on the corrupt officers.........more
