Gur remains quiet on some support NEW DELHI, Dec 3: Steady conditions developed in the local wholesale gur (jaggery) market here today with prices by and large after moving in a tight range on little bouts of buying and selling, finished ona flat note. Marketmen said restricted arrivals against sporadic demand mainly kept the prices around overnight levels. Following were today's quotations: Chakku 1375-1400, Pedi 1425-1450 and Dhayya 1425-1450 Shakkar 1500-1550 and Khandsari 1750-1800. In Muzzafar Nagar: Raskat 1075-1150, chakku 1225-1325 and Khurpa 1175-1200. In Murad Nagar: Pedi 1250-1300 and Dhayya 1250-1300. (PTI) |
| Ruia Group purchases Dunlop
India Ltd and Falcon Tyres KOLKATA, Dec 3: The Ruia Group has bought Dunlop India Limited and Falcon Tyres Limited from Chhabria's Jumbo Group through a Rs 200 crore package deal. Ruia Group Chairman Pawan Kumar Ruia said the deal was conducted through a special purpose vehicle. Funding was done by a third party, which will exit from the investment in five year's time. The entire operation was done through overseas route. Mr Ruia said the revival package, to be prepared in consultation with State Bank of India, would be forwarded to BIFR for approval. The Group will approach the Bank for working capital. He said the ballpark amount required for revival of the company was around Rs 150 crore, though the National Productivity Council, engaged by the Jumbo Group, had projected the package to be around Rs 210 crore. Both the Sahagunj and Ambattur factories will be opened shortly and the entire revival would take around two-years time. He said the total liability of Dunlop stood at around Rs 600 crore and shortly negotiations with the labour and the Bank would begin. Mr Ruia said the state government had also been informed about the deal and matters relating to labour welfare and electricity will be negotiated with help of the state government. NEPC India okays sale of wind energy division MUMBAI, Dec 3: The Coimbatore-based NEPC India Ltd has approved sale and disposal of the assets and liabilities of its wind energy division. The ordinary resolution under Section 293(1)(a) read with Sec 293(3) of the Companies Act, 1956 for this purpose was approved by shareholders through postal ballot, the company, engaged in manufacturing and marketing wind turbine generators, informed the stock exchanges. The company promoted by the Khemka Group with the primary objective of promoting wind energy. The Group has a multi crore turnover from diversified activities in the field of power generation. It has specialised in manufacturing a complete range of wind turbine generators in different categories and capacities. (PTI) |

Sql Star to issue 17.50 lakh shares to Bennett Coleman MUMBAI, Dec 3: IT company, Sql Star International Ltd has decided to issue 17.50 lakh equity shares to Bennett Coleman & Company on preferential basis. The EGM held on November 30, approved the issuance of shares at a price of Rs 40 per share, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange. The meeting also resolved to issue eight lakh convertible warrants at a price of Rs 40 each to individuals on preferential basis. These warrants are to be converted into equity shares within 18 months from the date of allotment. (PTI) |

Hyundai Jan-Nov sales up 21 pc NEW DELHI, Dec 3: Hyundai Motor India today reported 21 per cent increase in sales during January-November this year as against the corresponding period last year. The company clocked 236,878 units during the January-November period, a release by HMI said. While domestic sales in January-November, 2005, were 148,515 units, up 16.6 per cent over the previous year, overseas sales during the period stood at 88,363 units, a growth of 29 per cent. In the month of November,
2005, HMI sold a total of 21,725 units--14,010 vehicles
in the domestic market and 7,715 cars exported. It,
however, did not disclose the comparative figures with

TTK Healthcare to launch baby soap MUMBAI, Dec 3: TTK Healthcare Ltd, dealing in pharmaceuticals and consumer products, has decided to launch baby soap in select south Indian markets. The Chennai-based company will launch the baby soap under Woodward's brand as its brand extension, it informed the stock exchanges yesterday. The company, engaged in rationalising its businesses, had divested 34.94 per cent stake in its Bangalore-based company, TTK Healthcare Services Pvt Ltd, in May last. The proceeds of the divestment were ploughed back into the business operations of the company. TTKH operates in multiple segments such as pharmaceuticals, consumer products, biomedical products such as heart valves and gloves, printing and publication of maps and atlases, and ready-to-eat foods. Some of the prominent brands that come under the TTKH umbrella include Woodwards Gripe Water, the EVA range of deodorants and talcum powder, Kiwi shoe care products and Brylcreem hair care range. (UNI) Southern region freights up on bad weather conditions NEW DELHI, Dec 3: Freight rates for the nine metric tonne pay load section for southern destinations hardened on the local truck transport market here today following tight availability of lories against busy cargo movements. Elsewhere, rates for other destinations remained flat on some enquiries. Marketmen said tight availability of trucks for the southern states due to heavy rains in Tamilnadu, helped freight rates to rise. Delhi to Pondicherry, Coimbatore and Chennai freight rates rose by Rs.1000 each at Rs.29,000, Rs.30,000 and Rs.32,000 respectively. Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Mysore and Banglore too went up by Rs.1000 each at Rs.33,000, rs.35,000, Rs.28,000 and Rs.27,000 respectively. However, groundnut mill delivery oil softened on poor offtake. Marketmen said fresh buying by refiners and local parties pushed up select eidble oil prices. Mustard expeller oil prices were up by Rs 50 at Rs 3800 per quintal on increased offtake by local parties. Sesame oil also found fresh support and posted Rs 50 higher at Rs 4200 per quintal but groundnut mill delivery fell by Rs 20 at Rs 4700 per quintal. Soyabean refined mill delivery oil influenced by firming overseas markets posted rs 50 higher at Rs 3700 a quintal. (PTI) |
