Make
SSA successful
Sir,
Sarva
Shiksha Abhiyan in J&K was launched
by Central Govt in 2003 with the target
to achieve 100 percent literacy by 2010
and improving the quality of education
side by side. SSA is in full swing in
J&K too. From the very beginning,
Household survey was conducted and three
classes of children were identified:
(a) Drop
out children of less than 14 years of
age.
(b)
Children who were never enrolled in
schools due to one problem or the other.
(c)
Disabled children
Further,
all the Educational zones were divided
into chesters comprising 15-20 schools.
To further operationalize there chesters;
chester resource persons (CRPs) were
appointed and they were given training to
equip them with all the necessary skills
and competence in implementing SSA. These
CRPs are the real agents of SSA. To bring
modernity in Govt school classes; each
teacher is given Rs. 500 for preparing
teaching learning material (TLM) or
teaching aids to make teaching more
effective and joyful experience.
A visit to
these Govt schools will surely dwindle
our lost faith and class rooms seems to
be quite modern one.
Monthly
meetings are regularly organised at
cluster level inviting all teachers
teaching primary classes to evaluate the
outputs.
Recently,
medical camps were conducted and disabled
children were assisted in every possible
way.
In the
time to come, SSA would start bridge
courses for drop out children to make
them literate. Never enrolled children
are back to school enjoying the fruits of
SSA.
Education
Guarantee Scheme (EGS) centres are opened
in areas where no school exists within 1
Km. I appeal to all sections of people of
join hands and let us pledge to wipe out
illiteracy from the nation because
Education is no longer a sentimental
issue but an economic issue.
Yours
etc...
