KPs' return

Sir,

This has reference to Dr. Farooq Abdullah's statement at barnai, Jammu published in the Daily Excelsior that, "The Pandits can only return after a meaningful dialogue is held with Pakistan,'' The statement is far from the facts and to conceal the ground reality. Actually Pakistan is not the problem for KPs'. The hurdle to the return issue is a section of Kashmiri Muslims who have petty vested interests to keep Pandits away. They have so far been able to dilute Kashmiriyat, secular traditions and Kashmiri ethos. They are the people who proclaimed terrorist activities as 'Tahreeq'- (A great movement) that is the obvious reason the popular slogan like 'Hindu Muslim Sikh Itihad Zindabad 'never echoed after 1989.

The N.C too changed it stances. Omar Abdullah advocating for separatists recently stated, "Why should the separatists trust the Centre''. There may be ultimately some agreement on peace between India and Pakistan but it shall not necessarily solve K P problems.

The leaders have lost grace and grip so they have to tow the line of masses whether right or wrong. The ugly situation of 1990 mass exodus of KPs' when the faith and trust shattered, the cordial relation between the neighbourers of the two communities disappeared. Suddenly the local face of the social environment became dreadful. The outer elements were guided, lead and directed by the local ones. The mainstream politicians and even bureaucrats also changed their style and approach. In these circumstances how Pakistan is responsible for KPs' return. It will be in the larger interests of the nation and Kashmiri ethos to solve the problems of the repeated exodus of KPs' Dr. Abdullah secularist by inheritance may please play a meaningful role for this human cause.

Anupam's exit

Sir,

Ouster of Anupam Kher as the Chief of Censor Board by the Congress-led UPA Govt. was not unexpected.

Ever since the Congress-led UPA regime assumed office at the Centre, it decided to wreck vengeance against the previous BJP -led NDA Govt. First, it directed to have a thorough review of the NCERT history test books published during the BJP-led NDA Govt. regarding alleged' distortion and communalisation of history books' although the Supreme Court gave its approval the NCERT test books, being used in thousands of schools across the country. This was followed by sacking of some of the Governors appointed by the previous regime. The UPA Govt's HRD Ministry also asked the UNESCO to hold the Jan Amos Comenius Medal that was to be given to former Director of NCERT J S Rajput. And now it has replaced the Censor Board Chief Anupam Kher unceremoniously.

All these malicious steps on the part of the Congress led UPA regime smack of deliberate attempts to avenge the NDA Govt.'s politics and decisions.

Private institutions

Sir,

From last five years I have been watching various private institutions functioning in Jammu city. These institutions are running different Graduate and Post Graduate level courses especially computer courses like BCA, MCA, MBA etc. Every year good number of students got admission in these institutions especially those who did not get admission in Govt. colleges for any reason.

But the most imp. point to be discussed is that some of these institutions are functioning in residential building and also in commercial building where all facilities like Sports activities and curricular activities are not available. In such situations how can they provide quality education and good learning atmosphere. I wonder how university officials give affiliation to such institutions without checking whether the institutions are well established and have all other facilities which includes good campus, well qualified teaching staff etc.

At last, I would like to request the Education Minister to open more college so that in future every students can get admission in Govt college and is not exploited by these private institutions.
