SRINAGAR, Oct 24: National Conference (NC) president, Omar Abdullah, and a number of other senior leaders of the party had a narrow escape in an IED blast that left seven people wounded in Anantnag town of south Kashmir today. The NC top brass was going to attend the Rasm-e-Chaharum of the former Minister, Safdar Ali Beg, who had been killed by unidentified assailants in Sarnal locality of Anantnag earlier this week. Omar Abdullah has held the State and the Central governments responsible for today’s security lapse and alleged that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s government wanted to physically eliminate the NC leadership "in collusion with militants"............more
