SRINAGAR,
Oct 11: Prime
Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today announced that
with the additionality of Rs 500 cr, the
Centres rescue and rehabilitation programme
for the victims of the Saturday last earthquake
in Jammu and Kashmir would be of an order of Rs
642 cr. He said even that stipulation could be
temporary as the Centre could provide more
financial assistance in accordance with the
genuine requirement in the tremor-ravaged border

"Close monitoring" of faults neighboring
the one that ruptured under the Himalayas on Saturday in
the 7.6 magnitude earthquake is required as the Indian

region today rose to 19 with a minor
girl, who had suffered trauma following
earthquake, breathing her last in the
hospital while heavy traffic was diverted
on a newly laid Pantoon bridge in Akhnoor
as the main bridge was left for plying of
small vehicles only due to damage caused
