Indian
voters in US
Sir,
In US, as
November is fast approaching, election
campaign has started gaining momentum.
Both, G Bush and John Kerry, the
Republican and Democrat candidates for US
Presidentship respectively have started
wooing the American citizens of Indian
origin for their votes as well as raising
election funds for them. In order to
influence the US public opinion and to
turn the election tide in their favour,
they are questioning each other's
credibility. In this process, while the
Bush is being blamed by his rival John
Kerry and other democrats for not
fulfilling his military obligations as
Texas Air National Guard during Vietnam
war, basides, bluffing the nation over
WMD, (Weapon of Mass Destruction,) in
Iraq, the Bush and his Republican are
also leaving no chance to down J.Kerry,
by saying that Kerry has no alternative
to current US policies in Iraq and
Afghanistan, his weak will to fight
international terrorism and perpetrators
of 9/11 attack on US. WTC. More than
that, in India, Kerry is also being seen
as against outsourcing, If elected will
decrease Indian revenue. Setting aside
all type of election campaign, what
Indian Community in US needed is to
concentrate only on one question: who
would be better for India of these two?
So all women and men of Indian origin
when go to elect US President this
November, weigh rightly the option, Bush
or Kerry. To arrive at the right
decision, the formula is very simple.
Start from John Kennedy to Bill Clinton,
the Democratic Presidents and the
Republicans from Richard Nixon to present
G.Bush, one can easily perceive that no
US past President has shown as much
inclination towards India as Bush has.
Notwithstanding high expectations from
John Kennedy, Jimmy Carton, Bill Clinton,
White House of US remained inaccessible
even for the then high ups in Indian
Govt. Imagine, how the visits to White
House by the Sunil Dutt (then Bollywood
Actor) and Sunil Gavaskar (a great
Cricketer) were celebrated as rare
distinctions. But, it was only Bush who
opened the doors of US White House and
made it easily assessible even for common
Indians, due to Bush's resolve to fight
international terrorism after 9/11 that
India heaved a sigh of relief of Afghan
mercenaries in J&K, it is all due to
efforts of Bush administration that Pak
was made to agree ceasefire on IB and LOC
to complete border fencing. Bush has his
vision of ties with India. Bush has seen
India as a partner in the entire ocean
for the stability in Asia, Bush is the
man who prefer India over France and some
other European countries to play an
important role for world peace. It was
during Bush's terms that even Indian
festivals were celebrated is US White
House, Bobby George an American citizen
of Indian origin was Republican candidate
for Governorship of one of US state.
Although India has yet not reached the
stage to be regarded as nature ally of
US, but one thing is quite clear that
Bush, if elected, India will definitely
be US strategic partner in the field of
Air Power, space science and civil
nuclear programmes. Era of bitter
experiences between India and US, for
example, in 1971 when Richard Nixon sent
his seventh fleet and threatened India of
nuclear was during Bangladesh war of
freedom, pressure exerted by US on India
in case of NPT and CTBT from carter to
Bill Clinton, stalling India's efforts to
get Cryozenic Engine from Russia in mid
90s are all likely to go down in the US
history as historical mistakes committed
by US think tanks, in case the Bush comes
out victorious in coming US President
election.
Therefore
considering all these factors American
citizens of Indian origin are expected by
their Indian Brothers to vote and elect
the man as US President in the coming
election who is time tested and give
weightage to India.
Yours
etc...
