Excelsior Correspondent

SRINAGAR, Nov 10: Omar Abdullah, president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference said Mehbooba Mufti is a hypocrite, who indulges in double speak to confuse the people of Kashmir with her rhetoric which is bereft of any conviction.

Reacting to a statement of Mehbooba Mufti blaming the Union Government for sabotaging the PDP’s healing touch, Omar said its an irony that while her father was trying to bush up the Handwara rape case, she was trying to project herself as a protector of the human rights of the people of the State.

He said the treatment she received at the hands of the people of Handwara on Tuesday clearly illustrates that people no longer trust her and crocodile tears do not fool them anymore.

Omar said Kashmir is on the cross roads of history and its responsibility of all political parties to rise above petty political vested interests and all should without indulging in hypocritical politics work for the welfare, honour dignity and respect of the people of Kashmir.

The National Conference, Omar said is a party with an ideology conviction based on the emotions and sentiments of the people of Kashmir. He said his party has never played with the destiny of Kashmir for any political ends and shall never do so in future also. He also asserted that his party will never see false dreams to the people of Kashmir and shall always stick to its stated position and keep on struggling for the people of Kashmir and their dignity.
