Such was the tell-tale of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association on the second day play of three-day Polly Umrigar (U-15) cricket tournament at MA Stadium, here.

In both the matches, played in Jammu, in this age group, the team handed over to the scorer was not on proper letter head of the host Association whereas the visitors in both the matches named their teams on their respective letter heads.

Height of the non-seriousness of the coach (Kanaya Lal) and manager (Ved Parkash) was that both of them were missing from the host pavilion, especially when young players were needing them most.

There was no one, accept selector, Ankush Abrol to console and encourage the team when wicket-keeper batsman was returning with eyes full of tears on being given controversial out by the umpire.

J&K allows Delhi take 4-run lead

 Excelsior Sports Correspondent

JAMMU, Nov 10: A fine unbeaten half-century by skipper, Aditya Pratap Singh today helped J&K make healthy total even after losing two wickets on duck in their second innings after allowing Delhi to take four-run first innings lead in the morning in the Poly Umrigar (under-15) cricket tournament at multi-purpose MA Stadium here today.

Aditya, who played sensibly in the two sessions, saw his two partners, Divya Partap Singh and Sadiq Medhi becoming victim to right-arm spinner, Rahul Bhardwaj on duck. However, he found a good partner in Shahid Dar (21) and added 44 runs for the third wicket-partnership bringing the score to 52. The next incoming batsman, Kanav Sharma (2) became second victim to Tejasiwi Yadav’s tricky spin when he was caught by Yogesh Nagar.

However, wicket-keeper batsman, Gokul Baru, who proved to be the right partner for Aditya. Before he lost his wicket on the last delivery of the day, he had already played for 62 minutes contributing 13 runs. The important aspect of Gokul’s innings was that he provided a meaningful support to his skipper and was instrumental in 38-run fifth wicket partnership.

Earlier, Delhi resumed their innings on confident note and both Sourav Passi and Yogesh Nagar continued playing good short brought the overnight score of 12 for two to a healthy total of 92 before latter lost his wicket. Yogesh made 57 runs off 64 balls with the help of eight boundaries.

However, an excellent spell of bowling by Manik Gupta tumbled Delhi innings reducing the guests to 135 for nine. As many as six wickets fell within a gap of 33 urns. But due to lack of experience and missing guidance, J&K allowed last wicket to contribute 23 runs thus take four run first innings lead. Meanwhile, JKCA president, Dr Farooq Abdullah paid a visit to MA Stadium and interected with J&K and Delhi teams,
