Governor visits forward areas, hails Civil-Army liaison Excelsior Correspondent DAWAR, GUREZ, Nov 1: Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S K Sinha, today visited forward areas and took stock of the overall situation especially border fencing on Line of Control. In entire Gurez sector, the fencing has been completed. The GoC 15 Corps, Lt Gen. Nirbhay Sharma and GoC 28 Div, were accompanying the Governor. Interacting with the locals, the Governor lauded Army-Civil liaison and hoped that they will work in tandem for steering the state to peace and prosperity. The locals apprised him about the help being rendered by the Army to locals in various disciplines including health and education under Sadhbana Operation. The General said that the Army is there to protect them in every possible way and made a mention of various schemes taken up under Armys civic action programme aimed at ameliorating the lot of people, particularly those residing in border. He was apprised of the problems faced by the civilians and the Armys contribution in helping the civil populace of this remote area along the Line of Control. The Governor, who has worked in Gurez sector for two years in 1950 and 1951, got a surprise when a local Sarpanch of Baraub, Nawaz Mapnu informed him that he knew him as a young officer and had interacted with him too then. He also recalled how he and the locals had liquidated notorious Jamadhar Akbar Khan of Pak Army in September 1948 who had been committing atrocities over the people in Tilail valley. The civilians had shown exemplary bravery In throwing out the Pak troops from the area during those turbulent days. At Dawar, a large number of civilians including village elders and the local MLA, Nazir Gurezi met the Governor and interacted with him. Mr Gurezi, informed him about the non-availability of facilities to the civil populace such as telecommunications, evacuation of sick people from snow bound areas during winters and jobs of unemployed youth. The Governor was apprised of the Armys plan of making Dawar a model village as part of the border area development programme. It was brought out that within a year, Dawar would come up as a model village with all essential amenities. This year the Army has opened an Army Good Will School to provide quality education to the children so that they can face the challenges of the modern society with confidence. The Governor donated a computer for the school. On this occasion, heads of various educational institutions of the area were present. This year, in addition to the medical camps, the Army has introduced a mobile medical team facility. This mobile medical team includes a lady doctor who regularly visits the remote villages for treatment of sick people. This project has been a great success and much in demand in this remote area, since the villagers had to walk large distances for medical assistance earlier. The Army is also engaged in providing infrastructure for schools, scholarship to poor children, distribution of ration and warm clothing to the destitute, creation of shelter at Razdan Pass and construction of underground bunkers for protection against enemy artillery. Later, General Sinha addressed a special Sainik Samelan of 6 RR at Langet, which comprise Gurkha troops. In his speech in Nepali, the Governor complimented them for facing the situation with valour and stressed the need for maintaining vigil and dealing ultras firmly. He exhorted them to go out of way in helping and serving the local population. |

Hotel case Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: Division Bench of the State High Court, comprising Justice VK Jhanji and Justice YP Nargotra today held that in view of the affidavit filed by BD Sharma, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), no clarification is required in case of demolition of unauthorized construction of basement and ground floor shops of Yatri Hotel. The Court held that if any right is vested in the applicants in pursuant to the lease deed executed between tenants of the shops and Munshi Ram, owner of Yatri Hotel, then they would be at liberty to seek appropriate remedy in accordance with the law. The DB observed that, let it be made clear that applicants right if any, would be determined only after completion of task by JMC in terms of the judgment passed by the Court on September 6, 2004, whereby it was ordered to demolish the illegally constructed Yatri Hotel and also in the light of affidavit filed by Mr BD Sharma, Commissioner JMC. Mr Sharma, on the direction of the State High Court, had submitted in his affidavit that Munshi Ram constructed a big basement floor unauthorisedly in shape of a hall against the provision of the permitted building permission. In the approved plan, the ground floor was allowed exclusively for parking, but Munshi Ram had converted the same into shopping complex, comprising 17 shops which were constructed illegally. The JMC Commissioner, in the affidavit had further mentioned that all these unauthorized constructions have to be removed after carrying out complete demolition of the building so that nothing is left. This affidavit was filed in a petition of tenant-shopkeepers of Yatri Hotel, who had sought clarification to the extent of shops under their possession. They had mentioned that they paid lakhs of rupees in the shape of advance to Munshi Ram and agreement was executed between tenants and the owner of Yatri Hotel. It was mentioned that if the shops too were demolished, the tenants would suffer a lot. |

The publication commended J&K Bank for representing economic dynamism in the region, sustained growth in all spheres and an excellent track record of rewarding its share-holders. This list covers the 100 best smaller size enterprises in both Asia Pacific and Europe and number of Indian companies is next only to UK. To prepare the list, the publication screened the database of 2600 publicity-traded companies which had less than 1 billion a year in revenue and five-year returns on capital of at least five per cent. Sustained gains in the sales and returns and latest year market momentum were considered for the ranking. As per magazine, a countrys climate for entrepreneurism is reflected in these ranks. India, with 24 entries has more than any nation except UK, which is sure to gladden the hearts of many. It is remarkable that from Indian banking sector, only four banks have made their way to the list , which also include J&K Bank. |
Lt Gen SS Mehta hands over Cols Mantle to Brig Sodhi Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: A land mark event took place in the history of elite 63 cavalry when Lt Gen (Retd) S S Mehta, handed over the Colonels mantle to Brig Naveen Sodhi, another thorough bred officer of the regiment in a ceremony held some where in Northern Command. Lt Gen Mehta or Shammi as he is affectionately known, was commissioned into 63 Cavalry in 1962. During an illustrious career spanning over 42 years, he has held many accolades to his credit. As a young Squadron Commander he was one of the first to liberate Dacca in the 1971 war. He commanded 63 Cavalry from 1981-83 wherein the Regiment was presented with the Prestigious Guidon by the then President of India. He has commanded an armoured division, a strike corps and was the Army Commander of the Army Training Command at Shimla and subsequently the prestigious Western Army during Operation Prakaram. As Deputy Chief of Army Staff, he was the principle force behind the Armys IT drive. Presently Shammi continue to serve ther nation as the Principle Advisor to the Confederation of Indian Industry and as a member of the National Security Advisory Board. |
Aparna appointed project specialist of ICCROM Rome Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: Aparna Tandon, Art Conservator and Convenor, Preserve Art and Heritage (PATH) has become the first Indian to be appointed as Project Specialist in the Conservation of Collections Unit of the ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of Restoration and Preservation of Cultural Poverty), Rome. ICCROM is a specialist body of UNESCO founded in 1956 to preserve worlds cultural heritage. It has 111 members countries of which India is one since 1960s. Mr Tandon, Harvard trained art conservator has a masters degree in Art Conservation and has received specialised training in preventive conservation and preservation management. She has been a recipient of many fellowships including the Inlaks scholarship to study at Harvard University and a Fulbright fellowship to pursue advanced training with preventive conservation at the library of Congress, USA. Ms Tandon has been involved with increasing awareness for conservation through PATH and through her work as curator Amar Mahal Museum and Library, Jammu for the past six years. During this time she has toured many countries such as Australia, Italy, UK, Canada, Thailand, Japan, Myanmar etc in connection with her work. Ms Tandon feels strongly for the plight of heritage in strife torn Jammu and Kashmir. She will continue her engagement with PATH and will work for improving conditions for preservation of heritage. |
Maa Shakti celebrates India Day Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: Hundreds of school and college going students today participated in the celebration of India Day at Parade Ground here. The function was organised by Maa Shakti, an NGO. Attired in school uniforms with tricolour in their hands, the students were raising slogans like "Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Maa Shakti, Hum Hindustani Hain, Hum Hindustani Thai, aur Ham Hindustani Rahain Gain." They also sung the patriotic songs. The function was chaired by Sunil Sethi president Bar Association Jammu and besides Maa Shakti chairman, Swami Paul, it was addressed by president of the organisation Puran Singh and its ex president Jit Singh Chamak. Earlier, a huge car and scooter rally was taken from Maa Shakti Office, New Plots to Parade Ground. The cavalcade of vehicles passed via CPO, Kachi Chawani and Brahman Sabha before culminating at Parade Ground. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sethi hailed the efforts of Maa Shakti for organising this function. He said the NGO has taken a lead among all other organisations in the country in celebrating this day for the first time. He also assured full support from Bar Association to the organisation in organising the function in future too. In his address, Swami Paul said that "Maa Shakti" is celebrating this day to show to the world and also to those who speak double language on Kashmir, that we Indians are one and love the nation. He said we are Indians, we were Indians and we will like to live and die as Indians. He said let us take the pledge to celebrate this day in future with great fervour and enthusiasm irrespective of caste, creed and colour to demonstrate our strong belief in our nationality. Swami Paul said the sacrifices of national heroes, Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Chander Shekhar Azad, Subash Chander Bose, Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad and Gandhi Ji are still afresh in our minds and celebration of the day will further imbibe the spirit of nationalism and patriotism. On the occasion, the prizes were also given away to the participating schools and college students. TSO, stockist held for black-marketing of Kerosene oil Excelsior Correspondent KATHUA, Nov 1: Crime Branch today lifted Tehsil Supply Officer, a clerk of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department and a local stockist of kerosene oil in connection with seizure of 18,000 liters of kerosene oil stocked for black-marketing in Kathua town. The sources said that Crime Branch team taking cognizance of the massive black-marketing menance in Kathua district in connivance with the CAPD officials, today lifted TSO Hiranagar Bodh Raj Sharma and a clerk Jagdish Raj and also seized record pertaining to kero-sene oil supply in the entire district. A local kerosene stockist, B D Bhagat was also lifted by the team for questioning in this connection. TSO Hiranagar and clerk Jagdish Raj have already been placed under suspension after seizure of about 18,000 litres of kerosene oil from village Mangtian in Kathua last week. While there is scarcity of kerosene oil in Billawar, Bani, Basohli, Hiranagar and other rural areas of the district, the sanctioned quota of oil per month was being directly sold in the black-market by the stockists and some dealers in connivance of the F&S officials. Director CAPD Jammu, Pritpal Singh Betab when contacted said that a departmental inquiry has already been initiated and he himself after visiting Kathua three days ago had placed TSO Bodh Raj and concerned clerk-Jagdish Raj under suspension. He said though he had no full details about any arrest yet Crime Branch people were conducting investigations into the case. He further said that he has also suspended license of two local stockists of Kathua who are believed to be involved in the case. Assistant Director, CAPD Kathua Deepak Kenthia has been asked to conduct the inquiry and submit the report as early as possible. He said the Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum Companies have also been requested not to send supplies to these stockists and make some alternative arrangement for Kathua till the probe is completed. |
Police to install video cameras at main city points Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: State police has resolved to install video cameras at important city points and monitor the activities from the Police Control Room with the help of LCD screens shortly. Director General of State Police, Gopal Sharma during a high level police officers meeting here today said that temple city of Jammu is being covered shortly through installation of close circuit and long circuit video cameras at important chowks and the system will be monitored from the PCR as a part of modernization of state police. The DGP, who also reviewed general law and order situation in Jammu zone today stressed upon the officers that in view of ensuing Diwali and Idd festivals, as also the opening of Darbar at winter capital, the Police department have to remain more vigilant and alert with regard to the VVIPs security. He said police nakas at different points must be strengthened to make entry of the anti-social and subversive elements impossible. There should be no let up or draw back on the security system, he added. The Police chief advised the officers that to achieve cooperation of the people it is imperative to bring change in their behaviour and attitude while dealing with the general public. He said the raids and operations carried out at different places / naka points and other sites should be carried out without creating inconvenience or problems for the common man. The DGP informed the officers that a new system of registering FIRs is being introduced in the State from January Ist, 2005 for speedy redressal of different problems and cases pertaining to crime and other offences. This system will help in providing speedy justice to the affected people, he maintained. Inspector General of Police Jammu zone, Dr S P Vaid while speaking in the meeting assured that Jammu police will take each and every step to maintain law and order in the zone. He said no laxity could be tolerated with regard to the security arrangements. There is need to keep an eye on the floating population and strangers as well as people hiring accommodation by outsiders in the city. The DGP also handed over the newly procured bomb disposal squad vehicle to the bomb squad Jammu zone. The vehicle is well equipped with defusing machinery including jammer and generator fitted in the vehicle itself and it costs about Rs 57 lakhs. |

Addressing the dharna, provincial president of NC and MLA Marh Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, MLA Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, MLA Rachpal Singh and MLA Dr Chaman Lal alleged that there was total failure on the security front when two top NC leaders were visiting Sarnal to attend the Chahram of Safdar Ali Beig. "Even the Home Ministry report has come out with the conclusion that there was security lapse and after this the Government has no justification to continue in power", they said and added that it was astonishing that no proper scrutiny of the area was done despite the advance information that two Z-plus security protected leaders were visiting the area. They demanded that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed being the incharge of Home Department should resign on moral grounds. They reiterated their demand of thorough investigation into the conspiracy to kill the NC leadership by a retired Supreme Court judge so that conspirators could be brought to book. "Mufti Government has utterly failed on all fronts and the hollow slogans of the State Government have been exposed", the NC leaders said and added that unemployment has risen to a large extend. demonstration of Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: Abhiyaan, a Jammu based NGO, is going to hold one-day cookery demonstration of traditional dishes by master cooks, here tomorrow. The demonstration in which Mr Madan Lal, M.P. will be the chief guest, is first of its kind with an NGO initiative to revive traditional Dogra cuisine. Talking to EXCELSIOR, Shiv Dutt, chairman, Abhiyaan, said that "our NGO, involved in promotion, revival and consolidation of cultural traditions of Jammu and Kashmir, in last few years of its inception, has already undertaken number of research projects with the help of noted scholars and historians on various cultural aspects of different communities of Jammu region along with proper video documentation. According to him, Abhiyaans focus for the year 2004-2005 is on the revival of those traditional Dogra dishes that are at the verge of extinction and to popularize them in marriage and other functions. "The highlights of our action plan include location of resource persons in the form of master cooks, short listing of dishes for popularization, organising cooking demonstrations by them. Holding of workshops for the training of young and interested professional cooks, workshop-cum demonstrations by the workshop participants, holding of Dogra food melas, publication of recipe books of traditional Dogra dishes and release of CDs as self-help guides preparation of Dogra dishes for general public, he said. The cookery demonstration of Dogra dishes by master cooks is second part of our project to revive our traditional cuisine, said Shiv Dutt. |
PNB Family Club organises function at Bal Niketan Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 31: PNB Family Club, a pioneer club founded by employees of Punjab National Bank in 1996 for social and cultural activities and for promoting mutual cooperation and fraternity amongst the members of the club, organised a function at Bal Niketan, Ambphalla. C R Khajuria, senior regional manager, Punjab National Bank, J&K region graced the occasion. Ramesh Salhotra, secretary of the Club, while welcoming Mr Khajuria said that PNB Family Club is an association of like minded persons and has been instrumental in social service in the past and in future also it intends to be involved in social activities of this sort. Mr Khajuri also lauded the role played by PNB as a leader providing excellent professional services and its policies as a leader in the field of financial and related services and furtherance of the objectives, which is instrumental including the uplift of the downtrodden and poor sections of the society and their economic welfare. Mr Khajuria again emphasised that the role played by the Club should serve as a example for the other staff members of Punjab National Bank and they should also work in this direction. Govt committed to ameliorate lot
of Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: The coalition government is committed to ameliorate the lot of the downtrodden section of the society. This was stated by Minister for Social Welfare Mula Ram at an awareness camp organized by the social welfare department to distribute financial assistance and sewing machines to the needy at Supwal near Samba today. At the out set, the social welfare officer, Samba gave a detailed resume of the activity of the department and said that under integrated social security scheme 3978 beneficiaries were provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs.43.77 lakh and under national old age pension scheme 1023 beneficiaries were give Rs. 16 lakh whereas under pre-matric scholarship scheme to the scheduled caste and backward classes 4888 students were provided Rs. 13.83 lakh. An amount of Rs.60,000 was expended under national family benefits scheme benefiting six persons. The Social Welfare Minister said that in todays function under integrated social security scheme 250 physically challenged people would be provided pension amounting to Rs.4.10 lakh while under pre-matric scholarship Rs.4.25 lakh would be given to heads of 10 various educational institutions besides 120 sewing machines under lump sum assistance and 63 machines under SCA to SCP too would be provided to the destitutes. Mr Mula Ram said that all the regions of the state would be provided equal grants. He said that a boarding school in every district would be opened for providing educational facilities to the poor students of far-flung areas. He reiterated his resolve that old age pension would be provided to the deserving persons at the earliest. The Minister assured the people that Degree College at Samba would be open shortly. Cheques under ISSS, National Family Benefit Scheme, sewing machines, tri-cycles and hearing aids were also distributed by the Minister on the occasion. The Minister of State for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Mr Yashpaul Kundal informed that development activities in the constituency have been geared up and priority accorded to roads, drinking water and other civic amenities. He said that education institution have been upgraded in the tehsil to cater to the needs of the students. The Minister of State for Labour, S. Manjit Singh said that more awareness should be generated among the people regarding benefits of various innovative schemes. |

The meeting stressed that mothers of the children of the community must have their control over their wards for the proper character building, fathers must restrain from alcoholism and other drugs so that their children remain away from such things, every body should recite Gods name daily for inner strength, parents and incharges of Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees must have strict watch on the activities of their children so that they would not indulge into such activities which are against the Sikhism and orphan children and hapless womenfolk of the community should be helped financially. Land acquisition cases for railway track reviewed Excelsior Correspondent UDHAMPUR, Nov 1: To review the progress of land acquisition cases and other allied issues like construction of track and approach roads coming under railway alignment in district Udhampur, a meeting of senior revenue officers and engineers of northern and KONKAN Railway was held here today. The Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Ashok Parmar who is also the District Collector presided. The Deputy Commissioner after holding threadbare discussion on the subject with the officers of revenue, railway and other concerned officers called upon them for making concerned and coordinated efforts in smooth execution of work on Northern Railway Line and approach roads in Reasi and Mahore sub divisions. He also called upon the Deputy Chief Engineer, Works Northern Railway, Katra for placing indents in some left out cases well in time so that revenue authorities could execute their relative assignment in a stipulated time frame. The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mahore apprised the meeting that 13 kms Kanthan to Kouri approach road work including 4 kms constructed under NABARD scheme is through for vehicular traffic while papers for forest clearance on 18 kms Kouri to Surukote road have been completed by Divisional Forests Office, Mahore for seeking clearance of the government after receiving proper indent from Railways. He further disclosed that indents for Railways for construction of 13.5 kms Kouri to Surukote track have been received. The notification for acquiring over 4319 kanals land in village Kanthan, Judda, Dansal and Dagga have been issued besides holding private negotiation for fixation of rates in Kanthan village is also going on. The SDM, Mahore, G. A Khawaza further revealed in the meeting that revenue papers for acquiring 18 kms area for construction of approach road from Mamman Kund to Brala and Kantha morh to Dhaaram are being completed and notification under section 4 (I) likely to be issued shortly. He also divulged that Northern Railways have also indented for acquiring 360 standard kanals land at Sangaldan for construction of Railway station there is block Gool of the district for which the notification for acquiring the said piece of land would be issued within three days, he added. The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Reasi, Sanjeev Verma apprised the meeting that clearance of forest land coming under the railway project in Reasi sub division has been received from the government in most of the cases with an exception of Gran to Harote Kote approach road for which the procedural formalities for according sanction from higher authorities is in the advance stage of completion. Among others, General Manager (Tunnels) KONKAN Railways, Vinod Kumar was also present in the meeting. |

According to Railway sources, Mr Gupta along with DTM A K Mitoo, Post Commander, Railway Protection Force (RPF), D C Arya, commercial staff of Railway and RPF members conducting checking of train number 4033-Jammu Mail, train number 1077-Jehlum Express, train number 3151, Shealdha Express and train number 8101 Moori Express and apprehended 13 persons who were travelling in these trains without tickets. Nine cases of unbooked luggage were also registered and a fine amounting rupees 5109 was recovered on the spot. Nine persons were also apprehended for violating Railways Act. Four persons were arrested under Section 167 for smoking while four were arrested under Section 144 for illegally selling eatables. All the apprehended persons were produced before the Special Railway Magistrate, who fined them. |
Cong betraying Jammu people on CMs issue: Khajuria Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: Reacting to the statement of senior Congress leader and Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad, the State BJP general secretary Ashok Khajuria today said that Congress has been adopting double standard on the issue of State Chief Ministership. Mr Khajuria said that Mr Azads statement has proved that the Congress was least concerned about the promise it made with the people of Jammu region during elections despite the fact that it has maximum number of legislators from Jammu region. "In just concluded Assembly elections in Maharashtra, where the Congress won less number of seats as compared to Nationalist Congress Party, it took a obstinate stand for the post of Chief Ministership and finally snatched the post from NCP", the BJP leader said and added that this has made it clear that Congress has one stand for J&K and another for elsewhere. Such a stand revealed that in J&K Congress has secret agreement with the PDP and will never claim the chair of CM and would allow the Kashmir-based PDP to rule the State for complete six years breaking the promise it made to the Jammu people. Terming this stand of the Congress as betrayal of Jammu, Mr Khajuria said that Congress should apologize to people of Jammu, who voted the party to power on the promise that they will have a Jammuite as Chief Minister of the State. The BJP leader also appealed the people of Jammu region not to believe any more on the Congress and oppose its anti-Jammu stand tooth and nail. |
HPCL asked to increase refilling of LPG cylinders Excelsior Correspondent Srinagar, Nov 1: With a view to make available LPG and Kerosene oil to the people of the valley during current winter season and for the coming festivals, the Government has directed the J&K based Hindustan Petroleum Ltd to redouble its efforts in refilling the gas cylinders for meeting the consumption of consumers in the valley. This was revealed at a high level meeting of divisional officers of the valley held here today, under the chairmanship of Minister for Consumer Affairs and PD, Taj Mohiuddin. The meeting was among others attended by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, IGP, Kashmir, J. A. Makdoomi, all deputy commissioners, Head of departments, representatives of Gas companies, LPG and Kerosene oil distributors. The meeting decided that LPG would be provided to the consumers against production of blue card, ration card or electricity fee book, Director, CA &PD was directed to monitor the supply and distribution of LPG cylinders to the consumers. Several other oil companies attending the meeting were also asked to make the LPG and Kerosene oil available to the consumers of the valley on priority basis. On this occasion, the Minister directed Deputy Commissioners for constituting more checking squads on district and tehsil levels and also in Srinagar city for supervising the distribution of LPG, Kerosene oil and other essentials to the consumers and also for controlling the menace of black-marketing and hoarding. Permits for levy kerosene oil were banned and non-levy kerosene oil would be introduced shortly for industrial units, business establishments and security agencies. Mr. Taj said that due to recent fire incident in Sharifabad, the power supply in most of the areas of Baramulla and Kupwara districts was affected, accordingly these areas would be provided additional k.oil. The Minister stressed upon the officers and other agencies present in the meeting to ensure availability of essential commodities so that people would not suffer during ensuing winter season. On this occasion, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai while reviewing the stock and supply position in the valley, urged upon all concerned to ensure availability of essential commodities during forthcoming Shabi-Qadr, Jumat-ul-Vida and Id-ul-Fitr to the consumers. Govts census report on KPs confusing: JKVM Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: Terming the recent census report on Kashmiri Pandits published by the J&K Government totally confusing, the Jammu and Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) has alleged that the same was not based on facts. These views were expressed the Manch leaders at an interactive meeting held with Bangalore Samiti Chief R K Matoo here this evening. The meeting which discussed the current political situation in J&K and the problems faced by the displaced people putting up at Jammu and other parts of the country alleged that the census report is the outcome of a big conspiracy to root out the Kashmiri Pandits from the State. The meeting urged Mr Matoo and the leaders of other KP organisation in different states to register their concern before the Government against what they called its sinister designs aimed at marginalising the community and negating its role. Sharing the concern of Mach leaders Mr Matoo said the community should unitedly fight against such issues and mobilize the public opinion in nook and corner of the country against the anti community policies of the Government. He said the community has lost the 15 years in wilderness and without losing any further time we should frame a political agenda and stick to that. He said if community is really interested in its proper rehabilitation it has to set the political agenda. He said Kashmir is in our blood and we have to work unitedly to nurture our culture otherwise the community will lose its identity. Mr Matoo warned that if continuity with Kashmir breaks the community will be in shambles and if we fail to do any thing this time, the future generations will curse us. He also urged the communitymen to awake from the slumber and be ready for the nationwide struggle for their rights and fight for the political survival. Addressing the meeting H L Bhat general secretary, JKVM said that the organisation has taken up the issue with the concerned quarters in Union Government recently. He also expressed grave concern over the growing unemployment problem in the community.He blamed the State Government for completely ignoring the KP youth in the field of employment forcing their onwards migration to other parts of the country. On the unity among the various factions of the community Dr M K Bharat urged Mr Matoo to use his influence in this regard. He also suggested for formation of the list of the KP leaders who really support unity move.
