Is
there anybody listening?
Sir,
Eve as the
people have forgotten about the then much
talked about Kala Kaccha Gang, there are
still some people who are haunted by the
bloody trail of this gang and wakeup in
shivers every day.
While
there are many tragic stories regarding
the cruelty of this gang who have the
scars of that bloody trail visible and
continue to give them enough pain every
morning they wake up. People like me of
Gadi Garh feel the pain every time I look
for my glasses to read some thing or take
a bite from the food. I was among those
unfortunate people who fell victims to
the cruelties of the dreaded Kala Kaccha
gang and am still paying the price for
the follies of the lazy cops and
indifferent administration. I and my wife
were attacked by eight to ten members of
the gang at 11.30 PM on October 9,2002.
fracturing my leg and right law while my
wife was also brutally attacked to kill
both of them.
Taking us
as dead the gang struck in our house and
decamped with property worth more then 6
lakhs while me and my wife were shifted
to hospital by the neighbours.
We
remained in hospital for more than two
months and after getting discharged were
unable to perform the normal work due to
severe deformities in their bones and
eyes.
However
that was one part of the story as the
next was yet to begin and for much
longer. The FIR was registered to Gadi
Garh police station and a hunt began for
the culprits who left many people dead or
injured in the city sending shock waves
among masses for many months.
Later
police also arrested some members and
finally the kingpin and won accolades but
as usual one of the members died in
custody while the king pin ran way from
Kathua police station.
We who had
lost everything were pinning their hopes
for survival on police hoping that police
would now recover the property and
restore something to us to restart our
life in old age but then who cares for
the common masses in our state.
I was
shown some recovered property but I
sincerely told them that it was not my
and the wait continued. Then suddenly the
department transferred the case to
Satwari Police station and removed the in
charge Dy SP Pritam Singh from the case.
(with out any intimation to victims). who
according to me was not only cooperative
but had also done a great job by
arresting the members and king pin
besides recovering the stolen property.
Sincere
then I have been writing to every body
from SP to DGP and to the Chief Minister
to compensate him but nobody is listening
and the reminders from me continue for
the last 26 months.
I question
the healing touch policy of the Mufti
Government by saying when the Government
fails to protect its citizens it has an
obligation to compensate us particularly
the senior citizens with the fact that I
am a migrant having already left
everything in Valley. I request and Chief
Minister to look into the matter
personally and order a probe and fix
responsibility.
