Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Dec 13: No tangible results can be achieved without the police-civilian coordination. Police should create a sense of confidence in the society so that people, considering police their friend, always extend their helping hand to achieve better results in the field of law and order.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Home A. R. Veeri while presiding over a review meeting of Police Department, Jammu Range here today. He said that though police are engaged in multipronged activities, yet they have to be alert to face unforeseen eventualities.

It said Mr Bhat was attacked by the terrorists in Awantiproa in South Kashmir during the broad day light on December 3.

It said in another related incident in Lalpora village of Kupwara district in North Kashmir a young boy Rinkoo was called out of sole non Muslim house and shot on the spot by terrorists. This clearly indicates a worsening security scenario in the Valley, the handout added.

It said for the last one month since when reduction in troops has been in operation the security has gone from bad to worse. There has been a marked increase in terrorists strikes with deadly consequences, it added.

It further said the continuous attacks on minorities still living in Valley raises serious concern for their security. "We wonder weather these attacks have any relation to the recent statement of the Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister that 1300 KP families of exiled Hindus are ready to return", it added.

The Manch has also condemned the utterances of National Conference patron and former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah that the exiled minority Hindus were asked by the former Governor, Mr Jagmohan to leave the Valley which is contrary to facts as well as the earlier utterances of Dr Abdullah himself.
