Reduce class 11th syllabus

Sir,

After passing their 10th class exams by securing good percentage, these students get confused by their class 11th syllabus. Moreover to add to their miseries, one more subject has been made compulsory for them from this academic year. Earlier there used to be four subjects only. The authorities should have reduced the burden of another subject by curtailing the syllabus to some extent in all the subjects. The size of a book like Mathematics present a frightening sight. One gets astonished to see the syllabus of Mathematics for 11th and 12th classes. Besides, a book of an individual has been prescribed for these classes instead of NCERT books (prepared at the national level by the experts.) As a result, our students can not compete at the national level if such books are forced on them. Even the teachers find it difficult to teach the students from these books and often skip the questions by saying that these are incorrect and not in the syllabus.

The students of class 11th, who are presently appearing in half yearly (T-1 Exams) are demoralised as they have not fared well particularly in Mathematics and computer Science subjects, the reason being voluminous Mathematics book and out of syllabus question paper in computer Science (the paper was set from the syllabus meant for final exams i.e, T-2 Exams).

Our J&K Board of School authorities owe an explanation to these students and their guardians, as, how they have preferred/prescribed a book of an individual for Mathematics over NCET books?

Why the syllabus is not tailored to suit the 15 or 16 years of age? Moreover the session has started in August and the syllabus for T-1 Exams, under no Circumstances could be completed by November (in 3½ months) as a result the students are over burdened, disillusioned and demoralised and are losing interest in their studies courtesy J and K Board of School Education.

The Minister for Education is requested to kindly look into the whole affair and put the education system in the state on the right track.

Reservations in employment, education

Sir,

Apropos of the article ''of Darwin, Draunacharya & Ekhlabhayas'' by Darshan Darshi, it made an interesting reading. The writing revolves around reservation in admissions & employment. I agree with the writer to the extent when he says ''On Equal terms & conditions.'' As a bird species provides same nest, food, care to all its chicks & same holds good for animals, but it is the man whose kids are provided care as per the status of parents giving due marks to their castes, sexes, creeds, religion etc. Every sane person shall agree that race should be between equals & not between the bird whose wings are clipped/broken & the other with not only free wings but nourished with almonds, Rose-berries and alike. Race between empty bellied persons & honey, almond oil, butter, meat etc eaters, supported by cheat referees shall be highly unjustified. All laws of the land including the Constitution of free India revolve around providing equal opportunities to all its citizens, but who are those who have avoided & circum vented all these just laws. No sane person shall expect good results in the to race between the students of a Government school in rural areas viz Sher-Makri in Nowshera Tehsil of Rajouri districts (This Govt school had 02 teacher one on leave for 98 students as on 26-02-2004. This co-educational school had two rooms, one army bunker to hide during Pakistani firing & no WC) with students of JK Public, KC Public, Mary's Convent, Doon, Dalhousie and alike schools.

The sons of Maharishi Valmiki, Ved Bias Dr Ambedkar, Mahatma Jotirao Phule, Verangini Jalkaribai, Guru Ravidass, Guru Dev Kabir, Guru Natia das Guru Namdev, Guru Goraji , Guru Sain Ji and other such luminaries can not be idiots, but they are superiors to many if given equal opportunities.

The Dalits are not less intelligent as is being made out, but they have been denied, are being denied equal opportunities in life, so all Ekhlabhayas need support from the elite peoples for protections from Draunacharyas. Let all Private schools be closed or taken over by the government & opened for all including wards of all ranks in services, castes, sexes, then it shall be race between the equals. Let all those selected due to purchase of examination papers in advance be thrown out to give justice a chance, let all children be put in school on government expanses to see who is fittest for survival as per Darwin's Theory.

As regards reservation in education & employment it has been granted under well defined, duly debated, the Parliament of India and no body should un-necessarily raise hue & carry against these rules, as, in doing so, they are working against the unity, integrity, fraternity of our Great Nation.

Indo-Pak peace overtures

Sir,

Indo-Pak soldiers peace initiative for a nuclear free South Asia is a welcome step. Though a belated move, it is expected that such initiatives will help both the countries to come closer to each other.

It is true that both the countries could ill afford military expenditure at the cost of health, education and progress of citizens in both the countries.

In this context, it is pertinent to mention here that despite India's glorious past history and present outstanding and world class quality of our human capital, which not only is responsible for running many organizations, in manufacturing, trading and services sectors, around the world but also responsible for advising many countries, we have not been able to put our own a 'house in order' to world class standards.

Besides, a large chunk of population is living below poverty line. These people do not access have to medicare and educational facilities. The condition of roads is quite deplorable not only in urban areas but also in rural areas. As a result people are still groping in darkness, ignorance and superstition. Same is the condition of Pakistan.

This is because that most of money in spent on defence. The rising cost of weapons, electronic gadgets and their upkeep cost India and Pakistan terribly. The cost of a Sukhsi warplane comes about Rs 200 crores. This money is more than sufficient in constructing a number of schools and hospitals besides providing them infrastructure. So it is time for both the countries to stop hostilities and work for the betterment of people.
