Prem Nath Dogra at his 120th birth anniversary today at a function organized by State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here at Dogra Chowk. The function was attended by a large number of BJP workers and leaders. He, while, making a scathing attack on coalition Government, blamed it for what he termed its militant friendly and anti Jammu policies. " And to protest against the same, he said the Party is left with no alternative but to give a bandh call on the opening day of darbar" . He said the BJP as a responsible opposition will paralyze the functioning of the State Government and it will organize similar bandhs in the future to force the coalition partners to mend their ways and fulfill the promises made with the people of Jammu. He also declared the Party will not allow the working of those elements in the Cabinet and the civil secretariat who are associated with terrorists and anti India elements. Those who reflected on the historic role and splendid contributions of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra besides, Dr Singh included senior party leaders, Daya Krishan Kotwal, Ashok Khajuria, Chander Mohan Sharma, Prof. Hari Om, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Lalit Moza, Bali Bhagat, Jyoti Parkash Sharma, Suresh Jamwal, Charanjit Singh Khalsa Ch. Lashing out at the coalition Government, Dr Singh said the present political dispensation in the state is worse than the previous one led by Dr Farooq Abdullah. He while cautioning the Partymen and people against the misdeeds of the Government said they need to be exposed fully. "Time has come when the BJP has to follow the path of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra and start a mass based struggle for championing the cause of oppressed and suppressed people of Jammu and other nationalistic forces in the state", he added. He said we have to play more effectively the role of opposition for the national cause and to promote and protect the general, political and economic rights and interests of the people. Cautioning the partymen about the grave dangers which lay before the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions, displaced Kashmir Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims he stressed them to be ready for any sacrifice for the national cause. On the occasion the Partymen took a solemn pledge that they would not hesitate from any sacrifice for the national cause and ensure the reorganization of the state polity on a regional basis. Dr Singh hailed the initiative by the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee to hold a dialogue with the Hurriyat leaders and made it loud and clear that the State BJP would accept only that solution which integrates J&K fully with the rest of the country and which is acceptable to the people of Jammu, Ladakh and displaced Hindus and other religious and ethnic minorities in the Valley. Samooh Theatre organises play on Sant Kabir Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 24: Samooh Theatre organized a Theatre in Education workshop in Vimal Public School in which a play based on Kabirs message and his preachings to mankind, was prepared. The play "Dhai Akshar Prem Ke" reflects the social, political and religious scenario of his time (15th century). Kabir, who was a great saint, social reformer, a poet and revolutionary as well, had tremendous influence upon the Indians of his day. Despite the fact that he was a lowly weaver, the sheer force of his spiritualisation made him a focus of great veneration. The play was developed from his poetry and improvisation. Kabir is claimed by both Hindus and Muslims and preaches both the communities that God is shapeless (Niraakar). "I am neither in the temple nor in mosque; neither in Kabba not in Kailasa, neither in Yoga nor renunciation". Kabir used to emphasize that in the sight of God there was no Hindu or no Muslim and many of hymns contained in Guru Granth Sahib echo this concept. The climax of the play is on the extreme when Kabir dies. Both Hindu and Muslim claimed his body to cremate or bury his mortal remains respectively. When the shroud was removed the body of Kabir had disappeared in its place was a heap of flowers. The play was prepared under the direction of Sudhir Mahajan and Yassir Nissar Khan and Ravi Shanker were the associate directors. Prominent among those who participated in the play included Akshya, Sandeep, Ritik, Sumit, Harshit, Reshav, Abhisheak, Joginder, Amit, Sarv, Anmol, Rajiv, Manik, Upasana, Samta, Stuti, Tania, Samriti, Lavish, Mouneet and Neha. |

Mysterious viral fever can be dangerous By Mohinder Verma If you are suffering from high grade fever, red eyes, rash skin, flushing of the face, weakness, jaundice and have small glands in the neck then dont be non-serious and indulge into self-medication as by doing so, you would land yourself in a grave danger. The combination of these problems is a viral fever which cannot be easily treated and can prove fatal upto the extent of snatching the life of any affected person. This is one of the most complicated diseases as it is very difficult or rather impossible to poin-point the reasons leading to the eruption of the disease. Even National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) at New Delhi has failed to establish what type of fever it is. Thus differentiate it from typhoid, malaria and dengue fever. Moreover, any particular type of medicine could not be prescribed for the disease due to non-detection of base or factors responsible for its eruption. But, what the physicians feel is that the ultimate remedy to the spread of this disease is precaution. This viral fever has gripped most parts of the country and in Jammu and Kashmir, the cases of this viral are being reported from Poonch and Rajouri belt followed by some parts of Jammu and Udhampur districts. The trend of spread of this disease is being noticed after a gap of two to three years and this year an unprecedented rise has been witnessed in the number of people suffering from viral fever. But during the past some days decline upto some extent has also been witnessed. Sometime the people suffering from this disease start repurcating on their own but in most of the cases even lungs, brain, kidneys and some other vital parts also get involved thus dragging the sufferers towards the jaws of death. In an interview for HEALTHFUL, Head of Department of Medicine Dr Vijay Gupta said that the number of people suffering from viral fever can be much more than noticed at GMC level as only complicated cases are being referred to regions premier medical institution. "Far less cases are being reported from Jammu city areas as compared to Poonch and Rajouri belt where the viral fever has virtually played a havoc", he said. This disease is not confined to any section of society or particular sex as people of all ages and all categories have been found suffering from the disease. Such is this critical and mysterious disease that even proper diagnoseis at local as well as NICD level could not pin point what type of fever it is and what are the factors contributing in its fast spread. In the absence of any reason for the spread of disease and its possible relation with congectivices, the doctors are usually providing antibiotic like Tetracycline which yielded encouraging response among most of the sufferers. "Undoubtedly viral fever is a dangerous disease due to the involvement of multiple organs which can snatch the life of patient", Dr Gupta said and added that even similar cases are being detected in children also which show that people of any age can be gripped with this disease. The reasons behind the spread of disease can be multiple yet mosquito and combination of its borne diseases seems to be the main reason and needs proper precautions. If one member of the family is suffering from this disease there is 100 percent possibility of others also getting inflicted of disease. Though any particular treatment could not be developed due to lack of knowledge about the spread of disease yet precautions could prevent the spread of disease upto large extent. "As and when you come in contact with person suffering from high grade fever, rash skin, red eyes, flushing of the face, weakness, jaundice, enlargement of spleen, small glands in the neck and dry cough, advise him to report at hospital immediately and adopt utmost care while dealing with such patients as even handshake with the affected person can make normal person affected. One should not be so close with the person suffering from viral fever, avoid visiting crowded places and keep neat and clean atmosphere in and around yourself and eat hygienic food only to prevent from being inflicted of this disease. |
