Iraqis in agony

Sir,

The war has left behind stress and trauma among the people of Iraq. The war has led only to destruction, casualties and also fulfilled the hunger of warmongers. For many surviving the challenges of war can be rewarding, maturing and growth promoting, but for some, the demands, stressors and conflicts of participation in war can also be traumatizing, spiritually and morally devastating, and transformative in potentially damaging ways the impact of which can be manifest across the life span.

People of Iraq are still in a state of shock and the war on Iraq has influenced terror on people who are already suffering after the gulf war. During the war almost one million people left on foot for the border of Iran. They came from places like Najaf, Kerbala, Kufa, and Basra. They fled from persecution and war, leaving behind every thing they possessed. They endured all kinds of destruction that war inevitably brings to families including chemical bombing. The eyes of children still reveal the desperate plea of helplessness. It may take 25 years to recover from 25 days of conflict and economic misrule and mismanagement.

America using the sword "war on terror" has simply left Iraq in a devastating condition with a dark future. Iraqis are glad that Saddam is gone but are depressed about their future. They say, "Our freedom has no taste". America just wanted control over the oil reserves in Iraq for which he killed so many innocent people. Iraq was not a particularly happy place before war and it is less happy now that one can imagine.

In short today Iraq is a devastating country that hasn't a chance to rebuild. Moreover America has won the war but peace may be elusive. Through out the world people have grave doubts about the legitimacy of the US led was a civilian deaths mount. The war only leads to bloodshed, hatred and increased anxieties.

Screening of TV serials

Sir,

What a tragedy TV audience is subject to believe that there is nothing right in our families. Every woman is villian, and men have no character. Having more than one wife is order of the day. All this and much more non-sense are common features in almost all TV serials which are dragging on for the last three years. This also proves that there are no norms for telecasting the serials sometime when I forcibly sit to watch serials "K.K.S.B.K..B.T" or "KGGK" or any other serial with K as prefix the story is same, never moving and repeating itself over and again. I hear every one cursing and criticising, every scene of the episode. There is no dearth of good writers in the country.

There are far more crying problems in the society. Why are they sticking to only one Stereo typed theme which has not relevance and devoid of any sense.

The regulating authority must fix the limits of maximum number of episodes for a serial. They must not extend beyond one hundred episodes. No extension must be granted unless it is a historical serial like Mahabharata or Ramayna, this will ensure story ends when it must and some events are not repeated over and over again. The TV viewers will have something worthwhile to watch and no wrong message will be forced into the young minds.

Sending troops to Iraq

Sir,

Indian troops are performing their duties in most sensitive and militancy prone remote areas of the country. They also safeguard border along with Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Besides external threat due to cross border terrorism, there is also the internal threat which the country is facing at this time, India should say a clear 'No' to America again, in case any proposal are sending US troops comes from Americans. Rather India should send humanitarian aid to that country. Moreover, America never accepted requests made by India from time to time to contain Pakistan's efforts for supporting the terrorism across the border. USA always encouraged Pakistan and aided her in difficult and crucial times again and again. Why should we send our troops to Iraq, let us decide 'No'.

India should not burn its fingers by indulging in such sensitive issue as sending troops. It is also because negative response of US towards India in declaring Pakistan a terrorist State. Sending troops to Iraq is against national interest. Our Prime Minister should even reject UNO's demand for sending troops to Iraq.
