China removes Sikkim from website

BALI (INDONESIA), Oct 8: In a major move to foster friendly ties with India, China has removed Sikkim as a separate country from its Foreign Ministry website, honouring an understanding reached on the issue during Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s historic visit to Beijing in June.............more

SRINAGAR, Oct 8: Even as a soldier and a civilian got killed in a militant attack in Tral area this evening, security forces have killed at least six militants in three separate gunbattles in Kashmir valley since last evening. Police have detained four persons of Anantnag district in Srinagar, seized two of their cars and recovered cash worth Rs 17.10 Lakh from their possession..............more

HM comdr dodges BSF, escapes after surrender

JAMMU, Oct 8: A ‘commander’ of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit has dodged the Border Security Force (BSF) in Budhal, Rajouri and deserted it in less than a month of his surrender taking alongwith him arms and ammunition. The top militant has reportedly re-joined his outfit. Also, this was for the second time that the militant has deserted security forces after his surrender.............more

Pak targets hospital, AIR as shells land in Poonch
