Fill vacancies in H/S Moungri

Sir,

In the beginning of the second week of August 2003 i.e, before the teachers' transfers in district Udhampur, I personally met the Chief Education Officer Udhampur and apprised him of the posts viz one master grade and one Junior Assistant, out of 14 members staff, lying vacant since long in Govt High School Moungri, Zone Panchari, district Udhampur. Due to this shortage one teacher from the existing staff of 12 members always remains busy in performing the office duties of Junior Assistant like maintaining files, keeping records, drawing and disbursing salaries by travelling from one station to another etc. Resultantly, the studies in this 81 years old school are suffering.

Besides the school needs eight more posts sanctioned in its favour. The present staff, even after filling up the two vacant posts, is in-sufficent to carry one the school's ever-increasing workload successfully. Three master grade, three teacher grade, one librarian, one safaiwala etc vacancies are there. The school is reeling under great stress due to the staff shortage.

The Chief Education Officer assured me to fill up the said vacant posts within days i.e, during the teachers' due transfers. But to my surprise and shock, even after the much talked transfers the vacancies remained unfulfilled. No one has been transferred and deputed there. Moreover, the Director School Education Jammu now has put a ban on the teachers' transfers till the end of the current academic session.

The poor students in this school have already suffered and are still suffering inexplicably in their studies. The authorities' neglectful and discriminatory attitude towards this High School Moungri, usually in all respects, certainally invites discredit and criticism. The serious matter needs special attention. It may be treated as exceptional one. To save the innocent children-students from losing their one more precious year the Moungri School's vacant posts be filled forthwith.

Plea to Vice Chancellor

Sir,

We seek to draw the kind attention of the Vice Chancellor, Controllor Examinations and Director (DDE) University of Jammu towards the in-ordinate delay in the declaration of M.Ed 2nd Semester Examination Result, Session (2001-02 held in the month of April 2003 as these students are very eagerly waiting for their results.

M.Ed which is just (1) year course as per the prospectus issued by Director DDE, University of Jammu has taken us over two years as we sought admission in September 2001 and two years and have passed but still we are waiting for the M.Ed IInd Semester Result and as such our precious time is being wasted by the Examination Wing of Jammu University.

It is very much sorry State of affair that the candidates who have opted Dissertation as one of the courses have not received any information regarding their viva-voce though they have completed all its formuties and submitted the same to the University authorities by 12th July 2003 and the theory papers concluded on May 12, 2003.

Now near about five months have lapsed but there seems no sign of declaration of our result. In this connection, we requested the controller through press and submited also memorandum to controllor of examinations on 17.8.2003 and 27.9.2003 but unfortunately no concrete action has been taken so far in this regard.

Therefore, in view of the submissions made above, a fervant plea is made to kindly direct the concerned authorities to immediately declare our M.Ed. IInd Semester exam result.

Yours etc...
Ashok K Lalpuri and others

Commercial cultivation of cut flowers

Sir,

Apropos news item "Mufti for commercial cultivation of cut flowers" it may be said that the Chief Minister has touched one of the vital sectors of economy. There is no denying the fact that if flowers for cultivated commercially, it will give a boost to Jammu economy. Flower cultivation has significance not only from religious point of view, but it has other purposes as well. Flowers are widely used as gift items in foreign countries. The flower trade is expanding rapidly. Our country exports a variety of flowers to foreign countries especially to gulf countries.

Thus, in return earn huge amount of foreign money. In Jammu due to climatic and other factors, flower industry can survive profitably. In rural areas awareness needs to created among people about the importance flower cultivation. For this they can even use land which is not used for irrigation purpose. They would virtually harvest gold from this cultivation.

For this purpose the agriculturalists, should be asked to frame a plan, provide seeds and other required things to be farmer community.
