NC to hold public rally against coalition
Govt Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 10: National Conference (NC), will hold a protest rally here on November 12 to expose what it called the anti people policies of the coalition Government. Disclosing it at a press conference here, this morning, the NC provincial president and MLA, Marh, Ajay Sadhotra said the rally among other senior leaders will be addressed by the former Chief Minister and patron of the Party, Dr Farooq Abdullah and its president, Omar Abdullah. He said the rally will start from Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan and it will pass through different bazars of the Jammu to mobilize the mass opinion against the "dismal performance" of the Government. Accusing the Government for closing its eyes to vital issues faced by the people,he said Jammu region has been neglected in all spheres of development by it . Whether it is tourism, employment, border migrants issues or problems of the farmers, the Jammu region has been given a rough deal, he added. Launching a scathing attack on the Government, Mr Sadhotra said a deaf and dumb political dispensation is running the state at present which is not keeping its eyes and ears open to peoples problems. He, while strongly criticizing the State Government termed its all claims on improving the security situation in Jammu region totally hollow. This Government has created most insecure situation for the people of the state, he added. The terrorists attacks on Akhnoor, Raghunath Temple, Tanda Army Camp and Katra all are an indication in this regard, he said, adding the prevailing situation in Jammu is not different than what was in Kashmir valley prior to 1996. " The people travelling from one place to another are being frisked at different places nowadays, he said, adding this shows the hollowness of the State Government which has been fully exposed before the public." Commenting on recent public rally of coalition partners at Zanana Park here , he said it was the Rehbar-e-Taleem rally. All the official machinery was misused for mobilizing Government employees for this rally, he alleged. He said it is a total mockery that the Chief Minister who has other busy schedules is distributing appointment orders under Rehbar-e-Taleem scheme and providing the sewing machines to people at the public rallies. There is already a lot of resentment among the people against the Government policies and they (people) will not tolerate to be neglected any more in future, he added. |

Jammu,
Ladakh should not be sidelined Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 10: Vishwa Hindu Parishad today asked the centre not to sideline the people of Jammu and Ladakh in any discussions on the Kashmir issue. In any discussions on Kashmir, the people of Jammu and Ladakh should be seated in the front row, honouring their "patriotic and nationalist credentials," a statement issued by the state unit of VHP said here. "It should be kept in mind that Jammu and Kashmir is a part of India with contributions and sacrifices made by the people from Jammu and Ladakh and not miniscule," the statement said quoting a resolution of the organisation at its meeting of office bearers here last evening. In contrast, said the VHP, the Hurriyat Conference has had a wavering agenda on the issue. Expressing concern over the recent militant attacks on the camps of security forces, including their residential quarters, it said that these should not be taken lightly and militants should be dealt with an iron hand. "To take the militants head-on in sensitive areas of Rajouri and Poonch, adequate road communication and constructing two more bridges over river Chenab near Akhnoor was necessary," the statement said. |

"A memorandum of demands was submitted to the Speaker by Confederation on February 23 and later in a meeting with the office bearers of the Confederation in which SC/ST Minister and MLAs also took part, Chief Minister had agreed to bring a bill in the Assembly to enact a reservation act for the effective implementation of the provisions to safeguards the interests of these communities but till date no step was initiated in that direction" he further said.
