Consumer Column By Avtar Bhat There is no dearth of duplicate products in the market at present. Whether it is electronic goods, electric gadgets, china ware, electric goods or sanitary the duplicates of any product will be available any where. The duplicacy has become very fast nowadays and it is astonishing that before the manufacturing any original component its duplicate comes in the market with same shape size and look first. So it becomes often difficult for the customers to judge and make difference between the two products as both look same in shape and size. Nowadays, the business community has become so sharp in duplicacy that a customer often fails to judge the real and original with duplicate. In such a way many customers get cheated as it is beyond their comprehension to make the difference between the two products. As duplicacy has dominated every kind of business hence the sanitary ware is no exception and its duplicate products are also available every where in the market. Generally the customers have no knowledge of differentiating the original and duplicate one so they often get deceived. A survey conducted by one of the leading companies dealing with sanitary ware products some years back on various shops has revealed that out of 28 shops only one or two possess the sanitary ware products of the original make and standard company. The best way for purchasing the quality product of any kind whether it is electronic, electric or sanitary ware or hard ware is that the customers should always contact a registered dealer or distributor. This way they will not only get the original and a quality product but will also be saved from the cheating. Besides in the long run they will be financially benefited as a durable product is always economical. Often a customer feels perplexed when he visits a shop in his vicinity and gets any product for much lesser rate than it is available with a registered dealer or agency. In no time he decides that instead of making purchasing from the registered dealer he should buy the products from the nearby shopkeeper to save money. But actually he does not know that this can provide him a timely monitory benefit but not a lifelong succor. He does not know the products purchased by him are not durable hence they will not last for a more period and make him to repent after some time. The duplicate sanitary products in abundance are available at Delhi and hence it is no problem for the dealers to purchase them. These products lack durability so the businessmen purchase them at a very less rate. But sell them at a hefty sum. While selling the same in market they provide a discount of five to seven percent to customers to lure them. But in real sense they earn a huge profit through cheating as they value far less than the original product which really the consumers do not know. The method often being applied by the shopkeepers dealing with duplicate sanitary ware is that they replace the face and top of the duplicate fitting with original one. This even affects the market of the registered companies as the customers who purchase the duplicate products on the name of original when come across with their malfunctioning after some time start finding fault with the registered companies and their products. But they do not know they actually have been cheated by the shopkeepers who on the name of original product have fleeced them by providing the duplicate one. However, the customer is not also to blame as he can not make the difference after finding the trade mark on the top of the fitting. To cheat and deceive a customer the traders selling the duplicate sanitary ware engrave the trade mark in such a way so that it resembles the name of the original company. As Parko is one of the leading companies dealing with sanitary ware. Its name instead of PARKO is written as PARCO on the product by the dealers selling duplicate items. And when customer makes any inquiry he is told this is the original PARCO. Likewise for China Ware seats the name of company PARRY is written as PERRY by the cheaters to deceive the customers. Same is done by the traders selling the duplicate sanitary wares of Jagwar and Marc products the other two original names dealing with sanitary products . The best way to purchase the sanitary products of original make and standard brand is that a customer should visit a registered show room. Moreover the original product in sanitary ware weighs more while the duplicate weighs less according to experts. |
