Open more OPDs

Sir,

This has reference to the letter written by R K Bhat published in the Daily Excelsior on July 28. This is a very wise step the Government is planning to take and shall be most helpful for the public. In order to compensate for inconvenience caused to the public by restraining the private practice of Government Doctors, the Government should, rather will have, to start round the clock OPDs in all the hospitals manned by the senior doctors as is done in private clinics and hospitals. The Government has opened a number of dispensaries in the city. All these can be manned by the senior doctors and there is no reason why the patients cannot be attended to at a proper time and with proper care. Mr. Bhat is perhaps ignoring the fact that ordinarily the birth of a child in a private clinic coasts 20 to 30 thousands due to their attempts to prolong the stay on one excuse or the other, which many or us cannot afford. At present many doctors do attend private clinics in office hours. Obviously, the doctors in office hours shall try to pass the time and find ways and means to boost their private practice. Some of the doctors have a long row of patients waiting at their door steps due to the limited time fixed by them after office hours leaving no time for the doctor to attend to the family members. The ban shall in a way prove a boon for their families who will get a full time parent and doctor to take care of them.

Checking anti-social elements

Sir,

This is in response to the news item "JNCM activities go on Hunger Strike" Daily Excelsior July 19. In this connection I would submit that it would have been highly appreciated if the concerned correspondent would have gone to the depth by consulting the other party of the story. The common people of Kathua in general and the parents of female students in particular heaved a sigh of relief and have highly appreciated the steps taken by the District Administration by preventing undesirable elements from entering into the Degree College during fresh admission without any valid purpose. Under the pretext of so called "help line" these outsiders and undesirable elements instead of actually helping the students indulge in ragging and eve-teasing of girls. Therefore, the common people of Kathua want to thank the Distt. Administration for having taken such an action well in advance for checking the entry of such undesirable elements so that a clean academic atmosphere is restored on the campus. It may be kept on record that such elements also want to draw a political mileage also out of this at the cost of innocent children.

Restore telephone

Sir,

My Telephone bearing number 2591176 is out of order for over last two months and I have made repeated pleas to the concerned officers in the BSNL for restoring the same but to no avail.

The callousness shown by the officials of the concerned organization in restoring my telephone has added to my woes as we have to face great difficulty during the time of emergency. One of our family members is working in a Government Department which falls under the category of Essential Services and he has to face very odd situation in case there is any emergency call from his office.

The officers of the concerned Department were fully apprised of this but neither they did show any interest in restoring my telephone nor assigned any reason why it has become defunct.

Through this column I once again request the concerned authorities to restore my phone immediately failing which I shall be constrained to knock the doors of consumer court.

Yours etc...
